  • 125mins Straight

    by Torch83 on 2011-09-26Malkin Bowl - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

We lucked out with the weather at the Malkin Bowl. It was overcast/cloudy and no rain. Ra Ra Riot were the openers and they were awesome! BBS played approximately 110mins + 15mins bonus track straight without a break. Only a couple songs from their latest album was played and majority was from the older albums (which I prefer). They were great, but it would've been superb if Emily Haines and/or Leslie Feist was present too. Totally check them out!

Great last show of the season at Malkin Bowl! BSS had really good energy and the songs were fantastic as usual!

I've wanted to see them for a long time and I was not disappointed.

  • Moneys worth and more

by spurratic on 2011-01-18The Music Hall - LONDONRating: 5 out of 5

This was an amazing show by a band I've already seen 2 times prior. They played nearly their entire catalogue over 2 1/2 hours. It was one of the loudest shows I've ever seen/heard as well. I would highly recommend BSS to any fan of indie/canadian music. You don't want to be the person who says "I had a chance to see them and I never took it"

  • broken social scene survived a brutal ottawa crowd

by ottawawestcoaster on 2010-12-19Bronson Centre - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

unfortunately for the audience, the vocal distortion petals broke early on during the show. unfortunately for the band, the audience was horrible, clapping loudly and off beat during "lovers spit" and remarking loudly about the vocals during quiet moments the bronson centre's intimate setting provided. overall the band was amazing. i just wish ottawa was mature enough to appreciate it.

by deVoxTurk on 2010-12-13Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Was an awesome show. This was my 7th time seeing BSS and it's always so much fun. Seeing all the members out in full force is always a treat. Was a great experience from beginning to end.

  • I was funkafied!

by rebeccaandadam on 2010-12-13Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Wicked Awesome! The band was great, didn't really have an opening band because they just jammed with a local band from TO....but the music was awesome and the venue was very cool--no seats though--so after 31/2 hours of playing my legs were sore, luckily I was inspired to dance!

  • The whole family back together again!

Best show I've ever been to, hands down. Special appearances by The Stills, Stars, Feist, Jason Collett and Emily Haines. You could tell the band didn't want to end the night, they were having so much fun. And so were we!!

  • canadian band rocks the stage

by nellem on 2010-12-12Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Heard of these guys a few days before their concert and was intrigued. I was definitely not disappointed as a wide cast of members performed on stage. I had heard terrible things of the venue, this was my first time, but was pleasantly surprised. Yes it is in the middle of nowhere but other than that its good. This concert sold me to the band and suggest everyone check them out.

  • Well worth it

by lowther on 2010-12-11Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

A few friends opted out based on the price. I think they made a mistake as it was well worth the cost with Broken Social Scene boasting up to 20 different artists (all members there) up to 17 at a time. Very tight. The sound was as full as the floor with no elbow room. Excellent performance!

Superchunk made the show - they rocked! A little embarrassing that this wasn't a double headliner. Shame on BSS.

  • BSS mega-epic show!

by rcjennings on 2010-12-11Sound Academy - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

BSS were amazing. Best show i've been to all year. A mega-epic almost 3 hours of every BSS song new and old you'd ever want to hear. A wall of sound. My ears were ringing when I came out, but I was happy about it!

  • Sooooooo Amazing!!!!

  • Broken Social scene was great

by juicelightin on 2010-10-21Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed this show. I thought it was amazing to watch so many talented musicians on stage together and interchanging instruments. I loved the build ups and explosions of energy performed in their songs and wall of music hitting you. You could not help but dance and jump! It was inspiring and exciting to watch. Good show!!

  • Thoroughly enjoyed it

The venue was so nice and comfortable. The variety in ages was amazing to see and the music was fantastic. I found that Broken Social Scene was very good with the crowd and entertaining!

  • every element was great

Not everyone realized it but it was a privilege to see The Sea... play with BSS as they had been a real influence on BSS' sound and music. The Sea... are all fantastic musicians and their performance was perfect. BSS played a diverse set from every album and it was musical entertainment at its best: great banter, sing-alongs, ballads, moving music and the indy-band-we-switch-instruments-all-the-time thing... With their first couple albums being obscure masterpieces it's profound how accessible their live shows are. I have the utmost faith that if I brought a friend who hadn't heard these guys to a show they would love it.
