Bulls after Dark was fun, like a mini Vegas show in Calgary. Lots of pyrotechnics, music, and great bull riders. But they could not get the Bulls rounded out, which took a very long time. And the "hype man" was INCREDIBLY annoying
It was fun the experience was great just 2 things. 1 the sound system I had no clue what they were saying about anything. 2 they were rough with the bulls one bull knocked himself out while they were trying to get them in I think they should try and get a better system going before trying that Again other then that it was fun!
Very entertaining and affordable event. Live band was great, the freestyle bulls event was awesome. Only issue was long lines for drinks, no food selection (only lukewarm pizza!) and the length of time wasted trying to get the bulls back in the pens. The rodeo clown was super funny and had wicked dance moves. Would attend again!
Nice variety of entertainment. Could have done with less music maybe from a band you don’t know. Bulls are always fun to watch. It was so loud with the explosions at the beginning and end. We had a hard time hearing what was being said through the speakers. I think I could be a great family event, not sure about the need for it to be an 18 and over thing. All around a good event.
Overall I really enjoyed the show and I hope this returns next year. I have two suggestions to improve: 1) There should be some entertainment during the music. I was somewhat expecting the live music to occur while the bulls were out and 2) Some more things need to happen at the end of the arena where the music stage was. We ended up sitting closer to this end and it was too late to move once we realized all the action was at the other end.
As this was the first year the event took place of course there could be room for improvement. The biggest issue was the lulls in the performance. There needed to be more energy and events lined up right after each other. There seemed to be a lot of running after unruly bulls. The band was just okay and quite honestly the DJ kept the party going throughout the lulls in the performance!
We had high hopes for this event. The premise sounded so cool, and yes, the bull fighters were brave and acrobatic. However, you could tell this was the first time this event had gone on. It took so long to get the bulls to leave the arena, that our group only had patience to watch two bull fighters before we decided to call it a lost cause. Watching a bunch of men try and fail to corral a bull, when the stampede grounds are full of horsemen who may have had made an easier time of it, seems like a huge oversight. Not to mention that one time the bull decided to play dead, and the failed attempt to distract the crowd with a singing clown, while the crowd looked on horror struck at 3 men trying to drag a bull back to life. Overall, the group I was with decided this event was a hard fail. Maybe next year the logistics will be sorted out...if this event sees a second year.
So fun. Hope it continues. Entry went smoothly. Band was way too loud. Also with volume so high it muffled all the announcers. Been to all horse events there and could hear announcers so turn the volume down for this event
