What a great event to share with my daughter! So well organized and lots of exciting competitions! Thank you!
My wife and I had an amazing time at our first major skating event. Men’s freestyle and pairs were quite the show. Good atmosphere, packed house and a good preview of our stellar Olympic team!
Really good event with impressive performances of the best Canadian ice skaters. It's definitely a must-go event
The skating was exceptional - the competition went on without a hitch, the announcements were timely and informative, the time between events was appropriate, everyone was professional. However, the food handling was pathetic - not enough vendors open (resulting in a 45-minute line-up), not enough food (I had licorice for lunch). For the name of this arena, I expected much better.
The smells of dunk food during each break is very unpleasant. Always long line up to use the washroom during the break. No changing room available for the vendor, the customer has to use the washroom to try on different sizes of products which is one of the reason why the line waiting for the washroom is long.
No matter how many times we have asked Skate Canada to arrange with the centres that their skating championships are in to supply a healthy and satisfying menu, we have not had much luck. So of course we are asked to open our bags for checking to see if we have brought in food, beverages etc. This would not have to be done each time we enter the rink if there was something other than junk food etc. to eat.
Not enough concessions in this smaller venue. Good to have such events in the smaller Cities but may have to improve some of the amenities within the venue. Reasonable food selections. Pricing of concessions seemed normal compared to similar sized venues. Coffee was terrible and tasted just like hot water. A meet and greet session with the skaters would be nice but difficult with short schedule. The first half of the Sunday "Gala" event was weak, not too entertaining nor creative compared to past events. The Gala participants should be encouraged to have more fun in their presentations. I do understand that they want to show their skills, their quality, practice for future competitions, and not put them in a situation that may risk injury that would cause them to not be able to represent Canada. The Senior Competition is pushed into two days. It may be good for the venue, the participants, the volunteers, and the visitors who have to pay for room/board. I would think it is hard on the spectators and community businesses that could make more money with longer stay. The back to back competitions of junior and senior causes a whole new set of issues that impacts on the other concerns.
It was an excellent championship considering that it was a post Olympic year. The pairs, dance and men's competitions were outstanding. The women were weak. The only negative of the event was the concession stands who ran out of hot dogs on two occasions that I know of. Given that there is a strict schedule, this would indicate some lack of planning from the concession stands.
This skating show in Kingston was superb! Right on time, well organized, lots of directions provided and an enjoyable experience. The daily sheets provided by the Skate Canada Organization for the order of skaters was done with too small a font for the population of persons attending. Could not see it and especially in the show arena lighting! This could be improved! Also the introductions on the Sunday Showcase could have been a little bit more inspiring and sensationalized. Overall enjoyed our weekend at the K-Rock Centre being part of the Skate Canada show.
The athletes did an amazing job and did not disappoint.
The Nationals were fabulous to experience live. We clapped and cheered on all the skaters, both higher and lower ranked. They're the reason why we were all there. The Hall of Fame Induction of Lori Nichol was terrific. Lori is a smart, creative, classy, worthy inductee. Congrats Lori! And congrats to all of the skaters. Fabulous job! We saw some of them, chatting on the concourse, pulling their suitcases behind them. They are no divas; although, wishing my favorite dance team luck at the Worlds had them ignoring me. O well. The one complaint I have is with the venue itself. Grateful to have them here, but man, the seats are so uncomfortable, and with no leg room whatsoever. Overall, 4/5 stars!
This event was fantastic. The excitement and electricity being generated amongst the skaters and their families was a rewarding experience. It is a treat to see these young athletes achieve their goals. Well done Skate Canada!!!
Bought tickets for my daughter for Christmas. She was so thrilled when we found our seats she started to cry. We couldn't have had a better seat. We were able to see all of the jumps and spins clearly.
K Roc centre was rocking with the talented male and female skaters. Something everyone should see in person.
Great event well worth the money and seats were great enjoyed very much
This event showed us the up-and-coming Canadian skaters and we enjoyed watching them perform. It is exciting to realize how many wonderful skaters we have.
This event was exciting to watch; however, our seats were not very good. We had watched the earlier event in Section 112 and preferred these much more because the view was perfect and the big screen was clear of obstructions and was readable and watchable. I would highly recommend attending this in the future but make sure your seats are good!
The skating talent was exceptional. It was nice to have such a high quality event in the Kingston area.
This was a great event... many talented skaters that will go to olympics ..i am sure no one was disappointed
