The soccer was ok. The first half was like a warm up for both team. The second half was better and gave a glimpse to what European soccer can be like. Disappointed that it was not well attended. Not very well advertised. Edmonton usually has a really good show for international events. The stands were almost empty.
Good match , very good seats for cheap and nice experience.
The game was fantastic the players showing top quality soccer. Passing, give and goes, wonder example of highest skill soccer. The officials kept the game clean and enjoyable for all. Having La Liga come to Edmonton is beyond words. Best league on the planet. BRING US FCB!
I was feeling pretty happy and proud of myself for scoring front row seats ... the should be called “obscured seating” as the protected players’ benches block the view of about half the field. As an early season “friendly” match, it seemed some of the players were recently off the beach and not yet in game form. After the intensity of the Women’s World Cup, this was a yawn.
Very good turn out for a last minute game. But please, please use Clarke Stadium, a smaller venue and much better suited to soccer. People go to soccer for the love of the game, and Commonwealth is just too big, and the seats are too far away from the action. Especially for smaller, last minute match. It’s better to have a full Stadium at Clarke than a 3/4 empty at Commonwealth. Please take note and implement for the future.
I feel good that Edmontonians turned up for soccer. The match wasn’t that great as it was just the pre season but the atmosphere was worth it.
