Ottawa was too polite and dull

by Sharkbyte on 2017-11-05National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Carol Burnett is a legendary improvisational comedienne but not even she could a stayed Ottawa crowd into giving her material to work with. The evening turned into the Carol Burnett admiration and thanks society with little or no room to tell jokes or provide her with Material to respond to. The highlight of the show was impersonator Ooma God who came in Burnett drag and met her on stage. She's one classy woman for taking the chance on inviting the crowd so intimately into her show. All in all it was little more than a strained conversation with video clips from the show's history (including the mandatory awful NAC audio present at every show; deaf sound techs). It was a bit like a visit from your lovely aunt, full of family stories. Was it pleasant, yes. Was it a stage show, definitely no.

    A Quaint Evening

by MaggieMc on 2017-11-05National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Enormously grateful I got to see Carol Burnett in person. A quaint Q & A evening with scenes shown onscreen from her show. Although some of it was scripted (the stage hand bringing out the chair) she kept it off the cuff, witty and funny. Which is how I'll always remember her.

A wonderful program. Brought back a lot of happy memories when she showed excerpts from her shows. We always enjoyed watching her TV show.

At 84 she has not lost her touch.

by jacques1543 on 2017-11-05National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Although the show was not what I expected we had a blast. She is still so funny and really knows how to engage with her audience. We were in the second row..much closer than we normally buy ticket at the NAC but we were really well placed and the show was awesome.

    Carol Burnett was lovely

by NoraDesmond on 2017-11-05National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

I grew up in my teen years with Carol Burnett and her show The Carol Burnett Show, which has left me with lasting memories full of laughter. The show "An evening of laughter and reflection with Carol" was everything and more. She is so warm, down to earth and funny. Loved hearing about and reminiscing about her entourage. Seeing Carol was on my bucket list! What a great evening!!!

Very engaging and lots of laughs

    by Dreamer11 on 2017-11-04Sony Centre - TORONTO

The show started with some highlights from her past shows. When she walked on stage she was greeted with a loud round of applause. She sounded great. She was very personable to the audience and the back stage people. She gave a moment in memory of Harvey Korman. Questions from the audience were mostly good. Some tried to "audition". It was great to see so many stars that appeared on her show over the years. I also leaned some interesting facts, like how she got her start and her first meeting with Cary Grant.

She was hilarious in her day, but I didn't chuckle once at the performance. Left early it was so bad.

    Carol Burnett was amazing

by Whiz1962 on 2017-11-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Was an amazing with Carol Burnett, reminiscing brought back many happy moments from my childhood I was disappointed that Carol was never projected onto the big screen behind while she answered questions From the balcony she was a tiny figure and hard to see. Didn't think I needed to bring binoculars

    Meh....

by Lilyrmt on 2017-11-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Carol was difficult to see from our vantage point. Perhaps having her on camera and screen would be a good idea for those of us that could not get front row seats. She starts with a clip about 10 minutes in length, some of the audio was hard to pick out. Following this she took questions from the audience, I would say maybe two dozen in total for the duration of the show. Three were self glorifying audience members peddling their talents which, sorry peeps but I didn't pay for the 'amateur comedy show'. A few more clips and then it was over shortly after 9pm....so not even an hour an half. For $100 a ticket I expected a bit more.

Exactly what was wanted and more

by EJE1 on 2017-11-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Always great to see carol and the skits she brought to life. It was non stop laughter to see the clips and the anticipation of knowing what was coming made it all that much funnier. It was a treat to hear carol introducing the various clips and so interesting hearing the the background and personal side of things. The audience was one in non stop laughter

So Glad We Had This Time Together

by Sunnyblonde on 2017-11-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Loved the Carol Burnett Show when I was a kid. This show was a well balanced look at some wonderful clips, as well as audience interaction with Carol. She is amazing. Looking back it is incredible that a woman had such a long running fabulous tv show - given the era it was in. She was a huge influence to myself, and obviously many others in the audience. The length of the show was perfect for a week night and you went away feeling enriched. It was a wonderful experience.

Great Show So glad I attended

by ninnag on 2017-11-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

It was wonderful seeing Carol Burnett Monday evening at the Sony Center. I have been a fan forever and seeing he live was just the best. Met other fans at the stage door who also thoroughly enjoyed her show. Maybe she will come back and do another show in 2018. She got a standing ovation at the beginning when she walked out on stage. So well deserved. Wish the show had been longer The time just flew by. Great venue great seats

    Legend !!

by AbnerDevereaux on 2017-11-02Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

It was quite a mind-blowing experience to see Ms. Burnett in the flesh, I have to say. ALL of those years of watching her show on TV as a kid, transported into a (relatively) intimate setting with a Q & A Session. Very, very cool !! :)
