Chickenfoot - a stage full of Rock Gods

by MissionMetalMan on 2012-06-08Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

I wasn't sure what to expect from Chickenfoot; the potential for awesomeness was certainly there, but these guys are no spring chickens. I was very pleasantly blown away. Satriani was undeniably awesome, thrashing out one blistering riff after another, seemingly completely effortlessly. Sammy and Michael were obviously having a ball, feeding off the energetic crowd. Kenny solidly kept time and was a worthy stand-in for Chad. It rocked, plain and simple. Buy their albums and keep them coming back!

    frickin awesome, what a supergroup,

by makdude on 2012-06-08Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Hagar is the best front man, great vocals & having fun the whole show. Wished I had taken my old vinyl montrose album to get signed like some guy did. Satriani is THE guitar god, his offspring like Vai are mere mortals who I thought was a god before this show, when Satriani plays this style he just rocks the house. Anthony...well he is just perfect for this group with the bottom that never stops and perfect backing vocals as usual.

    Chickenfoot in Vancouver

by bigbirdsparrow on 2012-06-07Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Great show top to bottom. Chickenfoot is loaded with so much talent yet they never overpower each other to try to monopolize the spot light. Each worked together allowing the other their stage time. Sammy was spot on vocally and is truly a fantastic frontman. Near the end of the show a guy holds up an Montrose album (LP) and Sammy points him to come to the front where he signed the album. Then for the next two minutes signed anything and everything, all while continuing to sing. Show me another frontman that does that. Joe was mind blowing. His guitar solos were timely and unbelievable. Just nothing more to say than just short of brilliant. Michael provided the rock to the foundation and great background vocals. He and Sammy continue to have fun on the stage. Kenny Arnoff did more than hold his own. This guy, filling in for Chad Smith was outstanding. Great show top to bottom. All Chickenfoot songs except on Montrose. Only thing I wish was they could have done a couple from each guys band (Joe solo, Hagar solo, Van Halen). Well worth the buck. Four guys that are happy as crap playing to people.

    Chickenfoot, one word, Excellent

by aMusician on 2012-06-07Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

That was one one the best concerts i have seen in a bit. excellent mix of people and they really made you feel like getting up and dancing. Satriani was great as was the driving force of Anthony's bass. The drummer Arnott is one of the most sought after studio drummers going and i saw why. Powerful for sure. Hagar knows how to work the crowd and wow... he can still sing and hit the high notes. all in all i left there vibrating and stoked.

Come back when you have some songs worth hearing

by dorrcoq on 2012-06-07Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

When your idea of what constitutes a song is playing as loud as possible, screaming the same banal lyrics over and over, and throwing in a couple of Satriani solos...well, sorry, but I wasn't impressed. I actually left after about 55 minutes, figuring I had heard enough. They aren't a good enough band to warrant having my ears ringing for the next day. Hagar has to be one of the lamest front men in rock. He didn't even play guitar, at least hadn't by the time I left. I did really enjoy the openers, Black Stone Cherry, however. Good energy, some songs that rocked, great cover of Joe Walsh's "Rocky Mountain Way". I would definitely go see them again, which is more than I can say for Chickenfoot.

    CHICKENFOOT ROCKS!!!

by Terrenceh on 2012-06-07Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

OK... I have a loooong R&R history. Rock music & Sammy and I go way back...Bad Motor Scooter, Rock and Roll Weekend, I Can't Drive 55...Van Halen, the Wabos , The Better Half, Cosmic Fashion...ChickenFoot. These guys are professionals and Right Now...at the top of the R&R game. It may be somewhat sacrilegious to say they are closing in on Zeppelin...but I'm saying it. This was the BEST concert, CHICKENFOOT ROCKS the NATION. AMEN

    Great show!

by JZdancer on 2012-06-07Queen Elizabeth Theatre - Vancouver

Chickenfoot put on a great show! So did Black Stone Cherry! I really enjoyed the banter between songs, and can those guys ever play. You should check out the muscles on the drummer! I only wish it had been in a different venue. It felt a bit awkward sitting in theatre seats at the QE.

    Seattle Show Wuz AWESOMMMMMMMME !!!!

by AKJimmy on 2012-06-07WAMU Theater/Century Link Event Center - Seattle

Since the late 70's at the Orange Show Pavillion at the San Berdoo Fairgrounds Sammy has never let his fans down. Seattle was no exception. His vocals are as fine as his first days in Fontana. Michael, in my opinion, is now in a band where his input is appreciated and it showed with his interaction with the audience and his stunning bass playing. Sings pretty good too!!! Satriani, well he is always perfect and the audience was amazed. The drumming was BANGIN'.
