About

Childish Gambino is the stage name of Donald Glover, a rapper, actor, writer, producer and multi-hyphenate from Stone Mountain, Georgia. The DeKalb County native self-released a number of mixtapes from 2008 to 2010 before starring in the NBC comedy Community for five seasons. While appearing as Troy Barnes in the cult comedy series, the rapper dropped his debut album, Camp, in 2011. He followed that LP in 2013 with his sophomore effort Because the Internet and earned his first Grammy nominations for Album of the Year and Record of the Year for his 2013 studio set Awaken, My Love! and its single “Redbone,” respectively. In 2018, Glover unveiled his politically charged single “This Is America.” The track went viral thanks to its cinematic music video, hitting No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning the artist four Grammys including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Music Video and Best Rap/Sung Performance. In 2020, Glover surprise-released his fourth album 3.15.20 on his website, where it played on loop for just 12 hours. It was officially released a week later. He plans to drop two albums (his final two as Childish Gambino) — Atavista and Bando Stone & the New World — throughout 2024 ahead of The New World Tour.

  • Gambino was good but sound was terrible

    by MartyMcFly3 on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

Great show, great energy (from Donald). the crowd wasnt really into it - or so i felt? also the opener came on half an hour EARLY so a lot of people missed the entire opener. wy would you go on early? makes no sense. the sound was also terrible, Donald's mic seemed to be too low and even completely cut out during the entire show. those light screens were bonkers though!

  • Gambino kept that same energy

by bananabread on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best concerts I have ever been to. Gambino lit a fire under the audience and didn't let up for a clean 60 minutes - no seconds were spared. A performer of the highest caliber, whether he was singing or dancing, there wasn't a moment when he wasn't giving it everything he had. The visuals were stunning and created a fantastic atmosphere to accompany the mood from song to song. I left the concert feeling like I had experienced something truly incredible. If this is his last tour under the "Childish Gambino" moniker, it was also his best.

This was an awesome concert! I would highly suggest people check him out! It's a good mix of RnB, Soul, Rap and Rock N Roll

  • Childish Gambino was Incredible!

    by JuliaGulia007 on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was one of the best concerts I have ever been too. It was just him, some amazing LED lights and that's it. He didn't need anything else on stage with him. I waited until the day before to purchase my ticket and I'm so glad I did. He ended up coming into my section, singing part of a song and then walking down the section right passed me. I touched him!! My only negative feedback is, he didn't play for long enough. One hour and twenty minutes was not long enough.

Childish Gambino is a super performer. He can sing, he can dance and he uses funk, soul, rap and metal in interesting ways. The show was fun and super energetic for the 74 minutes of so he was on. The sound is not good at this arena but was passable though on some songs it was poor. Videographers that provide the visuals on the screens for those people too far from the stage should know that viewers want to see the whole of the performer especially when they are dancing and that they should hold on the performer for periods of time rather than switch views every two seconds. Childish Gambino was amazing. An incredible performer so I am happy I spent the small fortune to see him.

Donald Glover be my lover! Such a talent! Show was short though...I think I was only in the building for an hour and 20 mins. For approx. $200 I felt a bit slighted. BUT, the show truly was great. At first I was disappointed the band wasn't on stage in full view, but I can see why. Glover needed space to move and the stage show was impressive - with tall, rectangular vertical columns of sorts, that came together and separated seamlessly. Reflecting/refracting light like giant mirrors one moment, acting like video screens the next. Could have been projected images, I'm not sure, but it was very cool!

  • The MJ of his time

    by Marchie1991 on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This guy is an absolute genius. Already had crazy respect for him but seeing him live solidifies him as one of the most talented people and genuine entertainers of our time. Unforgettable.

  • Didn't live up to my expectations

by Enjoykirst on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

I got tickets for this show thinking it's be a fun and unique experience, but I was very disappointed. The bass was WAY too loud and we couldn't hear any of the lyrics. Glover didn't really engage the audience or get creative to the scale I thought he would. Maybe an off night but he seemed pretty checked out. It also ended earlier than I expected - which honestly didn't feel like a bad thing because it meant I got to go home earlier. Not the ideal concert experience, probably the worst I've see at the ACC/Scotiabank Arena.

  • Absolutely amazing night

by Stephiguess on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Literally the only thing that would have made my night better would be if Mr. Glover himself impregnated me at the end of the show.

If this is actually his last concert he will be performing he definitely went out on a fantastic note! Childish Gambino hyped up the crowd and really made it enjoyable for the entire audience. He looked like he was having the time of his life along with the rest of the people at the event. Great show!

  • Once in a Lifetime Opportunity

by Anonymous on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

For those who have not seen Gambino live, then I am truly sorry for you. A true passion of performance, Donald Glover does not spare a second without entertaining. I wonderful setlist, hitting on all his hugest hits in the encore, and exploring his newest ventures throughout the rest of the show shows the lengths he will go to bring a smile to your face and a groove in your body.

  • Childish Gambino took me to church

by Anonymous on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was soulful and educated and it felt like a small venue because his voice fills the room so effortlessly. It was art.

  • This is America in Canada

by Peejhey on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Childish Gambino was great. Great performer. So nice to have a live band. However his vocals were too low in the mix. The backing tracks were way louder. And why have tracks when he had singers with him?! Still, he did a great job and I want his new album to come out soon. Heard some new songs that I quite liked

  • by DarkSkinNeji on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Hands down the best concert I've been to. From the set list, to the energy, the band, and obviously the amazing Gambino. Everything was absolutely perfect.

  • Childish Gambino is GOAT

by Anonymous on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The experience was amazing. Donald Glover is an amazing performer.

  • Childish Gambino was one of a kind!

by BCornell on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

He doesn’t just put on a show he puts on an experience for the audience that I’ve only experienced once besides that out of over 150 concerts. The stage presence, the lights/lasers, the stage graphics, vocals, instrumentation, everything was just on point.

  • by Anonymous on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic and great performer. Would see again, so good live

  • Childish brought the house down !

From beginning to end, he kept the crowd on their feet with his energy.

  • Amazing show

by Vpar on 2018-09-13Scotiabank Arena - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

For his first concert (and hoping not his last even though he insisted it was) he was amazing! I was in awe the entire show... he really is multitalented
