About

CHRIS BOTTI IN CONCERT:

Trumpet virtuoso Chris Botti has made a lasting impression on his audiences ever since his first touring gig with Frank Sinatra in the '80s. The trumpeter's style and grace can't be matched as he fills the room with the sounds of his 1939 Handcraft brass trumpet, spellbinding audiences with the instrument's rich tones. The Grammy Award winner has played with a number of legendary artists including Sting and Andrea Bocelli, captivating audiences with signature hits like "Regroovable" alongside classics like "Ave Maria." Chris Botti never fails to disappoint, and he's sure to take fans on a musical journey they won't soon forget with his string of 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Influenced by his mother's musical background, Chris Botti began playing the trumpet at age nine, but it wasn't until he heard the classic Miles Davis track "My Funny Valentine" several years later that he decided to pursue a career in music. During his senior year at Indiana University, Botti toured with Frank Sinatra, which led to a number of gigs with famous artists like Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin and Natalie Cole. Since then, he's released ten studio albums — seven have reached Top 10 spots on the Billboard Jazz chart — and sold three million records. He's also been the host of the radio show Chill With Chris Botti and performed with the Boston Pops Orchestra alongside John Mayer, Josh Groban, and Yo-Yo Ma. Back on the road in 2014, the trumpet virtuoso is set to captivate fans on his highly anticipated world tour.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Chris Botti and his group are the best of the best in the arena of ultra-talented musicians. Of course the handsome man with the horn never lets his audience down. Even though he performs 300 days a year, he gives the audience his all as though it's one show just for them."

"Not only does Chris Botti shine with his talents, he has top notch musicians and a singer to make it an overall outstanding, entertaining evening. ...will definitely try to see the next show!"

"Chris Botti was charming in relating to the audience, and put on a spectacular display of musicianship. He's one of, if not the best, at his craft."

  • A marvelous way to spend an evening.

by Anonymous on 2010-04-14Jack Singer Concert Hall (ECPA) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Stellar performances from the outset. Mr. Botti is talented, personable and genuine and this is reflected in his music and his band and their sublime performances. The guest performances were exceptional, Ms. Fisher's range was exceptional and Ms. Campbell's performance was reminiscint of Itzhak Perlman. This is the second time I have seen Mr. Botti and his band perform and wait with baited breath for the next concert date.

  • Chris Botti is awesome

  • Botti had an amazing group

Concert was great. More than I expected. Was particularly impressed that both Billy Childs and Geoff Keezer were part of the group. Singers and violinist were also outstanding. A great mix of standards and jazz.

Chris Botti melts my heart! His albums, amazing as they are, don't do him justice. He's so much better live. His technical abilities are so much better than I would have guessed. Also, he has put together an incredible band. Everyone of the musicians was outstanding.

  • Botti Was Simply Awesone

by Kramer on 2010-04-14Jack Singer Concert Hall (ECPA) - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show from start to finish. The band and guest artists were second to none and Botti interacted well with the crowd. I would go see him again and again. It was also nice to see him take the time to sign autographs in the lobby (even though they needed to be articles purchased from the promo table).

  • I love Chris! He is such an amazing Artist!

The music was unforgettalbe! My grandfather wouldve loved it, he is the one who got me into jazz when i was little and showed me who Chris Botti is! He is the good stuff since Louis Armstrong! Now I might be younger then most jazz fans but, it reaches in and grabs my soul and that is exactly what Chris did last night! My favorite part of the evening was at the very end of the show he played a saloon song, and came out into the crowd and got everyone to snap while he played, it was awsome seeing everyone into it like that!

Great concert. Anyone who was not into jazz before, could easily be converted by Chris Boti.

  • Great jazz jam!

by charmedchick on 2009-10-29Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great venue, with a small crowd at Massey Hall (compared to Air Canada Centre). Every band member had a chance to do an incredible solo, from the pianist, to the bass player, and rather energetic guitarist. He had two special guests, a wonderful jazz singer and stunning violinist (who performed in bare feet!). The music was utterly sweet and at times rocking the house. Chris Botti was supremely talented and had a chance to interact with the crowd on occasion, enjoying the banter. I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet Chris after the concert who was gracious enough to autograph my poster and CD.

  • Botti crew was uninspiring

by RonToronto on 2009-10-26Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

We looked forward to this show for a long time and paid a high price for our tickets. Unfortunately, Chris opened by saying they've been on the road for over six years and are getting tired ... and it showed by mid-concert. While the play list resembling Boston Pops was not a problem, using the same dialogue ad nauseum made it seem like a re-run. The band goofing around when Cy (sp?) went up coincided with a general lack of spirit, like they were no longer taking this seriously and just wanted to move on to the next venue. It lacked a lot of vigor I was looking for and the encore was not much of an encore at all. Overall, we're still pleased we went to see Chris but we were disappointed overall considering the price of the ticket. a very uninspired event that seemed half cocked and cut short time-wise.

  • Unbelievable entertainment

This event was very relaxing and entertaining. I was very impressed with the interaction with the audience. I definitely would go again!

  • Botti takes your breath away!

by arteest on 2009-10-23Massey Hall - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

It was just the luck of the draw I guess, however, we were HUGELY lucky to have landed front row centre seats for the Chris Botti concert last night. There was an intimacy that we'd never experienced being that close. AND.... it allowed us to see the veins stand out on his face when he held those miraculous loooooooooooong notes and to see the twinkle in his eyes when one of the other performers either did something unexpected or something exceptional. Whata pro! He walked out right away at the beginning and stayed right until the end..... no warm ups required for the hungry fans. One teeeeeeeeeny weeeeeeeeeeny thing...... when he finished with One For My Baby ala Sinatra, it was not late-night-smokey-bar-slow enough. It was brilliant.... just not soulful. Bottom line.... each performer was at the top of their game....one of the best concerts we've attended. I'm making all my friends buy his CDs!
