  • Unbelievably amazing show

by SeasonedFan on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Although I have been a fan of Chris De Burgh since the 70's, and he has been to Winnipeg before, this was the first time I had the privelege to see him live, in concert. This was one awesome show. Chris played the entire show (no warm up entertainer), which I appreciate in a show. I pay to see the entertainer in question, not someone else, and to have the main event play for 2 1/2 hours, with only a 20 minute break in between was phenominal. Chris has an amazing repetoire that spans decades, and he played a mix of "old and new". The clarity and tone of his voice has not faded with time, and he continues to create meaningful ballads that relate to everyday life. Maybe this is why he comes across as an old friend that you've had for years, not someone up there on the stage to be revered (not that he isn't). Because of this, his connection with the audience is genuine & sincere. Chris - thank you for an unforgetable experience. Please come back to Winnipeg soon.

  • The Best of this Century

by Edkemo on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Chris De Burgh's concert at the Concert Hall in Winnipeg on October 5th was simply the best concert I have seen this century. He sand on every aspect of human existence and about every level of society from princes to residents of old folks homes. His ballads were poignant. his war songs brought tears, and he presented a wide mix of songs. For the number before closing :Patricia The Stripper: a girl fromt the audience in black tights go on stage and performed a fantastic number --she didn't show much skin but what she did it was clear she was a trained belly dancer.

  • This man is amazing.

by sassiedminx on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

This man can still sing and he proved that in spades. It was great to see Chris live after a twenty some plus year absence. His band was tremendous though not essential to the performance. Chris began with the band playing mostly his new work then after an hour he took a short break and returned unaccompanied for another segment. Both were equally stimulating. Not only did he play his new works but covered all the classic favorites by the end, WPG didnt want to let him leave and he rewarded this receptive audience with wonderful encores. This man does not disappoint and will always be on my 'to see' list.

  • Chris de Burgh still has that magic

    by Patricia7 on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

What a voice, what amazing songs. I loved his new music and the stories he tells through them. But listening to his older songs was pure magic to me. The memories that some evoked did bring tears, happy tears, to my eyes. He still makes sure he connects with his audience , being real I guess you could call it.

Excellent show ... great if you like long shows ... 3 hours with a 20 minute break.

  • Powerful experience!

by Potatocake on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I found this experience to be a little surreal - having Chris and the Band perform in my hometown - and finally getting up my nerve to come down in front of the stage to dance, watch close up, shake hands at the end and get a hug! His respect for the audience is very apparent, authentic and demonstrable... unique for the business and very disarming. Close up we could feel/ see how extremely professional and talented musicians/ artists they are. They did a solid, fantastic show... without the orchestra they had in Toronto of course...with some different songs and patter! The venue was a difficult one given that is has no aisles for Chris or the audience to move around but he made it work - as he did when the surprise dancer ended up on stage! Thank you sirs...this was my fourth time seeing you on the 2015 World Tour and we still have 2 more shows to savour!!

  • Still Sings Like a 30 Year Old

by Shawnsie on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I saw CdB 32 years ago here in Winnipeg and he was amazing. I was so excited when I heard he was coming back as I had missed his last couple performances in the 1990's. He did not disappoint me at all. He sung all of his hits with a bit of a rock twist, and also covered his new songs from his latest album. All the songs were fantastic and when he hit those high HIGH notes, he was "spot on". That man can SING!! He hugged and kissed people in the audience and was very playful with the crowd. He even allowed one of the fans to get up and dance to his closing song "Patricia the Stripper" which the crowd had waited for all night. This 3-hour performance was nothing short of phenomenal. I will definitely buy another ticket if he ever returns, but at the age of 66, Winnipeg may have just seen the last of him. If you are a CdB fan and missed this concert, ,that's a crying shame!

One of the best concerts I have been to in a while...

  • Chris De Burgh still got it!

by Raptorlady on 2015-10-08Centennial Concert Hall - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

Chris de Burgh was absolutely exceptional. The music was great, the band was great, his set was great, and the performance was absolutely stellar. This concert was probably the best one I've ever been to. You can see that Chris is truly honestly in it for his fans. He was running down the aisles, hugging people and shaking their hands. He allowed anyone to come down to the stage and dance. (I did it and it was so worth it. He even shook my hand). He is truly a marvelous performer and I would definitely see him again if he came back. The nostalgia of his songs brought me to happy tears. He still hits those high notes too ;)

I have been to many concerts, but and this to be one of the best. It was filled with great music and wonderful interaction with the audience.

Very nice concert! He is amazingly talented person with a great personality. Most of public remember him by his famoust song "Lady in Red", so expect that 70 % of ladies will attend concert in red:)

  • Ok !

by itawad on 2015-09-29Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The concert started with new songs that nobody knew and they were not good. The audio was not the best. After the intermission he was playing the good all songs from his famous albums. But, he can't hit high notes anymore (understandably) and the over all performance was a 2 star one. Really nothing blows your mind !

  • Pleasant evening

by connelly999 on 2015-09-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

First the good news. The centre was packed and everyone was having a good time, a lot of dancing, applause and adoration. However a few points: I am sorry folks but his voice cannot reach the notes anymore. No one seemed to mind as if they were transported back in time in Maple Leaf Gardens. His song selection in the first half was questionable. Too many songs that not many people had not heard before, there was no building of momentum. Then just near the end of the first half he started a upbeat older song and beckoned everyone to come to the front. Many did and then he did about two or three songs that had everyone jumping. I thought this was a great way to finish the first half. But then he goes to a slower song from the new album, people slowly go back to their seats and then the ushers come out telling the rest to sit down, a real mood breaker. Also, why does everyone have to video the concert, distracting the event for others? At one point I just closed my eyes and listened to the music. Strangely, he sounds better that way. He played for near to three hours (starting right near eight and ending near 11 with a short break) covering most of his hits and the crowd was left wanting more. You can't beat that type of experience from a 66 year old. (except if he was Springsteen).

  • by Scortch on 2015-09-28Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Chris de Burgh was awesome! He got the audience involved and up on their seats! He sounded amazing! It was a great night.

  • Fantastic!

by Potatocake on 2015-09-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Chris play London's Royal Albert Hall and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall earlier this year and would say that his Toronto concert was better than both...better sound, great audience engagement, better play list. ..and of course the addition of the orchestra for the second half was genious! Even the Band seemed to be having more fun. ...and lookef polished. So glad he said he can't wait to come back...though I'll be seeing him in 3 more cities for this tour!

  • Entertainment for all ages by a classy balladeer

by evaaB on 2015-09-27Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Chris De Burgh, not a day older, but just better with age, performed to everyone's hearts delight, new songs, old classics, and though I was accompanying a friend, it was one of the best concerts I have seen by an incredibly talented song-writer. These songs TELL STORIES. Never mind Lady in Red, just listen to Spanish Train. Fantastic!

  • Amazing!

  • Chris De Burgh was Amazing!

by LAW2 on 2015-09-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What a great show! Chris de Burgh is a fantastic storyteller. His songs are unique and his lyrical storytelling can be enjoyed by both the young and the old. His band is amazing, his solo songs at times captivating, and when the 34 piece symphony orchestra joined in the second half the theatre came alive!

  • What a great show!!

by Numberonechrisdeburghfan on 2015-09-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Chris did a great show. First with his very talented band, then doing some solos, and then with the orchestra. He did some old stuff and new stuff. Can't wait until the next time!!
