  • Colin James and his band were AWESOME.

by NancyV on 2020-01-03Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

The show started, almost on time. But I believe he was probably hoping to get more people seated, as the line ups at the bars were incredibly slow. He played straight through midnight, no breaks. Then the balloons and then Auld Lang Syne. The whole thing was great.

  • Fantastic New Years Eve

by JJ on 2020-01-03Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 4 out of 5

Colin James played an amazing show leading up to midnight on New Year's Eve at Casino Rama. We were fortunate enough to have a table near the dance floor, best New year's Party we have been to. Only negative was the lack of bartending, looked like only 1 bartender for the entire concert goers. Really Rama, what were you thinking, it was New Year's Eve??? There was an enormous line up the entire night. Hence the 4 stars and not 5.

  • Great way to spend New Years

by CJ Fan on 2020-01-03Casino Rama Resort - RamaRating: 5 out of 5

What a great concert on New Years Eve at Rama. I find this venue great for any performance, but the dance floor in front of the stage was the best idea ever. It gave seat dwellers the opportunity to watch while sitting and watching the show - and it gave us that like to dance the opportunity to dance away with one of Canada's greatest performers. The stage was lovely - lighting looked great. The sound was crystal clear. And the band was excellent. Picked up on a few very minor mistakes - but they laughed about it and carried on. I loved that. We got a top notch concert and Colin James and his band did not disappoint. Thanks for a great show and would definitely recommend.

Great venue, played from the time he came on until just after 12 midnight rang in the NY with him! My husband said it was the best concert he has ever been to, that is saying a lot considering who he has seen.

THE CONCERT AT THE CLARKE WAS UNFORGETTABLE! COLIN WAS GREAT! FANTASTIC GUITAR AND EXCELLENT BLUES. THE MEN THAT PLAYED WITH HIM WERE FANTASTIC- GUITARS WERE CRISP AND CLEAN AND GUITAR PLAYER WAS CLEAN. HARMONICA WAS FANTASTIC AND HAL DID A GOOD JOB ALSO. FIRST TIME SEEING THE MAN AND THE SET LIST WAS ALL ENCOMPASSING. BROUGHT A NEIGHBOUR UNFAMILIAR WITH COLIN... NOW A DIE HARD FAN.

  • Colin James Blues Trio

    by Sammytoo2 on 2018-03-18Clarke Theatre Foundation - MissionRating: 5 out of 5

COncert was awesome. Colin` s guitar playing is amazing as well as his vocals. The other 2 in the trio are great as well. You have to go see this if it`s in your area. Venue was small & intimate.

  • Great show!

by Riddington on 2017-03-07Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

I love going to a show where the performers look like they're having as great a time as the audience is. This is the case with Colin James and his band... his opening act, Tami Neilson was great as well... powerful voice. Enjoyed every minute :)

Colin James was great. However the concert was so loud we couldn't enjoy the band. Also distorted. Not sure if it was our seat location (shouldn't matter) or if the sound guy missed his mark.We shouldn't have to take ear plugs to the Jubilee to watch a performance. A lot of people around us were protecting their ears with their hands. Not a good situation.

  • Amazing show ruined by incompetent sound mastering

    by Garcia1952 on 2017-03-07Northern Alberta Jubilee - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Colin James is an incredible guitarist with a great rock and roll voice, he is also one of the hardest working. Song after song morphed into another without a break. He is a great showman, knowing exactly what will thrill his audience as when he descended into the front rows to play directly with his adoring fans. His backup band is excellent, special kudos to the sax players and organ player. We were seated in the centre left balcony and unfortunately the sound quality was atrocious. The bass was so overpowering it dwarfed Colin's guitar solos. My chest was actually sore from the pounding. The young man next to me thought the person behind him was kicking his chair. He was about to confront them when I mentioned how bad the sound was. It improved slightly in the second half of the concert but was the worst sound management I have ever been subjected to since my days as an avid punk follower. To make matters worse, they would often direct three of the large orange/red spotlights right at our area blinding us for the time they kept them on us, which was considerable. I don't know if the sound quality is always that bad in this venue or just this particular area, or just plain incompetence on the part of whomever was responsible for managing it.

Seen Colin James a few times, from unplugged with Chris Caddell to having the horn section. Wasn't sure what to expect after he cancelled Saskatoon, but his energy and voice held up. Alway impressed!

this was my third time seeing Colin James...he is my absolute favourite Canadian Blues/Rock artist hands down! I love all songs...new and old that he puts in his set list! Always worth the effort to attend his shows!!

  • by JetRod on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Opening act was exceptionally good. Don't know why we've never heard of Tami Nelson before. Colin was full of energy and worked his butt off, even though he had a cold. His guitar playing was amazing, his singing was great, and his back-up band was fabulous. Really enjoyed the show.

  • Colin was AMAZING!! Like always

Even with his cold he killed it. I have always enjoyed Colin's music and my CD collection proves this. So to score seats front row made my day!!
