  • Love me some Colin!

by DblCoverage on 2017-03-06Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Although he apologized for a throat virus that had him a bit weaker than usual, I felt that Colin's performance was as good as any (if not better) than the other 8 times I have seen him play. I can't complain about anything to do with this show, the musicians were all awesome, the sound was fantastic, the view from our seats was great. The opening act was energetic and compelling. All in all, a wonderful evening out!

The show was mediocre at best. I can hear from his records that Colin James is a talented guitarist & a soulful singer, but the guitar nuances during the Calgary performance were buried in either the overall poor sound quality or perhaps because the supporting crew felt it was necessary to clutter when they shouldn't have. Colin also spent too much time adjusting his FX foot pedals; I would have thought that this would have been unnecessary for a professional.

Have seen Colin James before & would go see him again! Couldn't wait to hear Just Came Back but wished Voodoo Thing was on the set list!

  • Great Show - Again

by Gribbles on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

Can't remember how many times I've seen Colin in concert over the years, but as usual he didn't let us down. Covering just about all of his latest CD, Blue Highways, (in my opinion, the best he's done for a while), and then throwing in some old favourites for good measure. On stage for just short of two hours and boy did it go by too fast. Excellent guitar work from the man, and a great really tight back up band. Go see him.

Colin James is an incredible guitar player that plays so many genre's - blues, rock, big band. He brought his entire band including both saxophone players that just adds to the band.

  • Colin James is a blues man!

by Airdrieite on 2017-03-06Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Even though he wasn't well, Colin still put on an amazing show. He never fails to entertain no matter what genre he is playing but his style of blues is infectious. His band is as talented as his and it was nice to see a couple members of the big band joining in.

  • Colin James - Unbelievable

Both my husband and I were so impressed with the show. Right from the opening act (Tami Neilson) to the closing of Colin James. This is the first time either of us had seen either act live and it truly was a treat and money well spent for this event. Jubilee was a great venue spot for this concert. It felt personal and was great to know it was about the music. Not all glitz and glamour.

Colin's new music was a great mixture of up beat blues. He is still over the top talented. Enjoyed seeing Dave Babcock perform with the band as well as member of Monkey Junk. Great show all around!

First, if you were coming to see Colin James simply to "relive the hits" you should not have gone to this show. This was about his new blues album and simply playing blues and rhythm and blues music. It was so refreshing to go to a show and watch a master musician play what he wanted to play, and fortunately, having the crowd also enjoy the show. We all know how good Colin James is so I need not ramble on about his skills, simply put, he played great!! The songs were great!! The band was great!! The audience, was also great!!

  • Love Colin

by JanicefromRedDeer on 2017-03-06Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

Always a great show from Colin, but man alive it was FAR TOO LOUD. Could not hear the individual instruments (saxophone, etc). No need to have the bass blow your socks off- the feedback was bad because of it. Too bad because the music is so good.

Colin James has the energy of a 25 year old, bounding across the stage all night for nearly 2 hours. Great Show.

  • Colin James is still amazing!

by Searocket on 2017-03-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

For a man in his 50's and being sick as well, he still brought it like he was still in his 30's. This man is obscenely talented for the enjoyment of all. If you haven't seen this amazing talent live, you need to. I won't forget this show. Absolute highlight.

  • Colin James ROCKS inspite of terrible sound

by CBSavage on 2017-03-05Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

After seeing his "Up Close and Personal" your last year , we couldn't wait to see him again, this time with a full band. He is amazing and I cant say enough about how entertaining and varied his riffs and solos are. a true master. As well this all shone through in spite of an absolutely terrible job by the sound man, I'm guessing it was the house sound man from the Jubilee. early in the show he missed some of the harp solos and the worse was when Colin James himself is pointing at the other guitar player and the sound man didn't turn him up. Lighting was just as bad. Back to the positives .... great band and I was so proud seeing Dave Babcock ( local Edmontonian rocking on his sax). Great variety of solos from the different band members throughout the show. A must see !!

  • Colin James - under appreciated talent!
