Come From Away on Tour

The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.

Broadway's COME FROM AWAY has won Best Musical all across North America!

The New York Times Critics' Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

Don't miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year's Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, "It takes you to a place you never want to leave!"

On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.

  • I am so proud to be Canadian! This play was fantastic !!

by Beejazzes on 2019-09-06National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Six of us went to see this fabulous play and sat in the balcony. The characters were realistic, down to earth and enjoyable to watch. We loved that the staging was simple but so effective. The time flew by and all of a sudden it was over! I want to go to see this production again and again! While I loved the music, I did find the sound to be a bit loud. It was wonderful to see most of the audience on their feet at the end of the show for a standing ovation, then staying on their feet and clapping along with the musicians. Truly an unforgettable experience! Thank you to all who were involved!!

  • Deft and fast-moving

We just loved every minute of it. The staging and choreography were so clever, with imperceptible changes of scenery and characters. It was funny but also moving. Highly recommended.

  • Amazing

I had no idea what the play was going to be like. To hear what Gander did for the people stranded there and the friendships that were made and how those stranded payed it back.

  • One of the best shows I've seen!

by ScottiedogE on 2019-09-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

A great inside look at an event which changed the world for so many. The writers handled the subject with sensitivity and just the right dash of Newfie humour and humanity.

  • It's a must see...

Great cast and the story is very well orchestrated. I was not disappointed!

  • Great acting, some disconnects that were distracting

by Spot on 2019-09-04National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

The acting, story telling, and music were excellent. However, having lived in Newfoundland for over a decade, I found the lighting to be all wrong. No where in the province would one see the colours that were used on the set. The ambience created by the colours was a distraction to the story and the colours were not true to Newfoundland nor to the 9/11 context. Also, the trees at the side of the stage were not native to Gander, at least not in the past century after the tall pines and other species were all harvested for ship masts. The accents were not quite right but forgivable. Overall it was the disconnect between lighting and the story that grated. This is second time I have attended CFA (the first time was in Toronto) and this version was second best. However, it is worth seeing, and I would happily go again for a third time. Anyone who has not lived in Newfoundland probably would not notice.

Best show ever. Held my attention and was so exciting to see such a production about such a horrible historic event. I want to see it again. The staging was ingenious and the music was so lively and truly entertaining. I am such a promoter of everything Canadian so this was perfect. The talent was bang on and it was super to see people of every shape size and age. Bravo, bravo, bravo.

With so few props, I wasn't sure what to expect with this show. Wow. The cast did any amazing job. The focus was on them and what they did with their limited props. I laughed out loud many times and almost shed tears at others. Excellent show. I highly recommended it.
