Come From Away on Tour

The true story of the small town that welcomed the world.

Broadway's COME FROM AWAY has won Best Musical all across North America!

The New York Times Critics' Pick takes you into the heart of the remarkable true story of 7,000 stranded passengers and the small town in Newfoundland that welcomed them. Cultures clashed and nerves ran high, but uneasiness turned into trust, music soared into the night, and gratitude grew into enduring friendships.

Don't miss this breathtaking new musical written by Tony® nominees Irene Sankoff and David Hein, and helmed by this year's Tony-winning Best Director, Christopher Ashley. Newsweek cheers, "It takes you to a place you never want to leave!"

On 9/11, the world stopped. On 9/12, their stories moved us all.

Come from Away was excellent. It dealt with many emotional issues that arose frrom 9/11. There was pathos and humour. The cast, and music were topnotch. At the end there was a heartfelt standing ovation with tears.

  • Great show

The show was excellent and gave me a great sense of CANADIAN PRIDE, my only complainant was the acrostics of the NAC I found it difficult to hear all the speaking words ,the songs were ok. We were sat in boxes of the amphitheater, excellent view poor acoustics.

What a wonderful experience. We laughed, we cried. The energy was amazing and the talent inspiring. Bravo!

  • Absolutely fabulous

This was our second time seeing this show, this time in the balcony where it was difficult to hear every word. But still, I would go again. It's a great tribute to the welcoming atmosphere in Newfoundland and Canada no matter your ethnicity, gender, status (love the cardiac surgeons cleaning the bathrooms). After the show, a woman sitting beside us was nervous about walking back to her hotel, so we walked with her. Small acts of kindness flourish with the spirit of this show.

  • Don't miss this show

I have been to many musicals, this by far is in my top 3 favourite. The story steals the show, the raw talent, the emotion outstanding. You will walk out wishing you were a Newfoundlander and a PROUD Canadian

  • Absolutely outstanding!

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. It had everything: humour, pathos, great music, talented cast, wonderful band. Loved how it included some of the real stories of the people affected. We did not want it to end. We all agreed we would see it again in a heartbeat. Don't miss it!

  • Best show of the year!

This was certainly the best show I've seen this year. I would go back a second time if I could.

  • Exhilarating

by Jim M on 2019-08-31National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

More than I expected. Very impressive performances by all those on and off stage. One simple flaw, that Newfoundland accent is so hard to comprehend at times that I missed a few punch lines. But I know the language is a major part of the entire performance. Kudos all around.

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was funny, heartwarming and thoroughly entertaining. The only negative is that the British accent was not quite right. I hope to see this again sometime

  • Simple yet fabulous

by FrannyD on 2019-08-31National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

I loved, loved, loved this show. Will probably go down as my all time favourite. The set, costumes and actual screenplay was so simple but totally effective. Actors were amazing, wonderfully talented. I loved how they had each actor playing different roles. Had you laughing one minute then crying the next. A historical piece that captured humanity at its best. Kudos to all involved in this class act!

  • Great Show

by Danny Fan on 2019-08-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Although the music sometimes overpowered the dialogue making it difficult to hear what they were singing about, I enjoyed the show. Hubby complained he had trouble hearing a lot of the dialogue whether sung or spoken. Wonderful true story and reminded us not only of what the Nfld. people had to cope with but also the airplane passengers.

  • Come from away brought it home!

An extraordinary evening of theatre, music and good old fashioned fun! The cast was strong, the staging very effective, the music enthusiastic and delightful. The story compellingly told with song, humour, sadness and compassion. This is an easy review to write, it was superb!

  • Rollercoaster of emotion

by Armstrong on 2019-08-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

We laughed (a lot), we cried a little, we wanted to dance, we wanted to sob and hug our children. Mostly we were overcome with pride, both for the Canadian kindness that is still up here, and for the American generosity in their appreciation (I didn’t remember reading about that). Great show, and in its apparent simplicity, so clever.

  • Great experience!

by Dan on 2019-08-30National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyed the show. Appreciated the fact that the actors played different roles, minimal props were used and the injection comedy throughout. Would see again!

  • Fabulous

Great seats - amazing story- really captured the diverse population from the young to the old and the multi cultural backgrounds. The warmth and generosity of the people of Gander was evident. I want to go to Gander now! Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you!

  • Very Good - but not TO

by Ottawagoaliemom on 2019-08-27National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 4 out of 5

Second time seeing Come From Away. Worth the price of admission. Touring company was good but TO company was just a little bit better. The sound was sometimes a bit too quiet. Didn’t miss a word in TO.

  • Loved every second!

by Mimi_c80 on 2019-08-27National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

Enthralling! From the moment it started until the band left the stage, the show was totally captivating. I laughed, I cried, I didn’t want it to end!

  • Come from Away - Ottawa- Amazing!

by TG Thunder Bay on 2019-08-27National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

This show was excellent! Cast was wonderful. The play left me feeling so proud to be Canadian! It made me laugh, it made me cry, but most of all, it made me happy. Would see it again in a heartbeat.

  • Memorable!

by J. K. on 2019-08-27National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - OttawaRating: 5 out of 5

My mother and I attended the show and we loved the stories, music, and humour. A talented, diverse group of 12 actors that addressed real issues (school bus strike, gay relationships, heterosexual relationships, racism, death of a son, generosity of strangers and later friends). A real FEEL GOOD show that leaves you wanting to make a positive difference in the lives of others. I had heard that it was a great show, however I didn't expect how much of an effect it would have on me. Bravo!!!

  • Awesome!

As a Newfoundlander, I was transported home and was allowed to see how we Newfoundlanders truly are. And the rest of the world gets to experience it as well. Well done!
