DALLAS SMITH IN CONCERT:

Dallas Smith first rose to fame as the frontman of alternative rock band Default, but he's sure to rise even higher as a country rock solo artist. He's already earned comparisons to Keith Urban and Jason Aldean, and fans lucky enough to catch him live will have no trouble seeing why he's country's hottest new addition. Feel-good, hook-heavy anthems like "Trippin' Point" and "Slow Rollin'" are tailor-made for summer party soundtracks, and Smith delivers them perfectly at his live shows. A natural showman who delivers fast-paced, energetic performances, Smith never fails to have ticket buyers dancing in their boots all night long.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Vancouver-born Dallas Smith launched his music career as the frontman of post-grunge rock group Default, who enjoyed considerable success in the early '00s with their hit single "Wasting My Time". Despite the group's success, country music beckoned to Smith, and in 2012 he released his solo debut album Jumped Right In, a collection of guitar-driven country jams that landed five singles on the Canadian Hot 100. Smith racked up award nominations including Country Album of the Year at the 2013 Juno Awards and Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, and Album of the Year by the Canadian Country Music Association. If 2013 wasn't busy enough he also embarked on a sold-out Canadian tour with Bob Seger, played alongside Jason Aldean, and signed with Republic Nashville. His first U.S. single "Trippin' Point" was co-written by Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard and went platinum in Canada. Smith finished 2014 by touring with Florida Georgia Line and working on his highly anticipated sophomore album.

It was such a good concert!! My first time going to a concert at Mac Island and they lay out was great, the concession was yummy and lots of room for everyone to stand and not feel super crowded.

This concert was terrific! The playlist was comprehensive and included so many of his best hits, and had a very fun vibe the whole time. Added bonus, the opening artist, Andrew Hyatt, was incredible too. The quality of the sound was perfect, and the venue is a great size - there’s really no bad seat. Highly recommend seeing Dallas Smith if you have a chance!

  • OUTSTANDING!

by MICHELLE on 2023-05-01The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - WindsorRating: 5 out of 5

The Dallas Smith concert exceeded the already high expectations I had. I LOVED the positive energy and the intoxicating way Andrew and Dallas both engaged the audience. The combination of opener and headliner was remarkable. It was an added bonus for Kelly to make an appearance. It added just a bit of spice that made the whole experience more enjoyable. It was refreshing to have a wide variety of new and old material from Dallas as so often performers only want to highlight their new work on tours. I was not familiar with Andrew Hyatt (sorry Andrew), so it was a delightful, incredible surprise when he took the stage. Openers often lack the confidence and stage presence that mainliners have acquired through experience but Andrew Hyatt NAILED IT. His voice is as smooth as a good Scottish whisky and his passion for his work flowed though the music like a river. We had the pleasure of sitting behind Andrews father, and the passion for music and emotion from both father and son was extremely touching. Andrew - you have definitely added 4 new fans to your repertoire. The positivity and high energy of the concert was so therapeutic after the stress and anxiety of covid. It was captivating and I thank all three performers and their talented bands for bringing a powerful and uplifting experience to Windsor.

  • Woulda been AMAZING with the lawn

by selena on 2022-07-03Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

The vibes were great, didn't know many of the openers but disappointed to find that they closed the lawn and upgraded everyone with lawn seats to the 200s and 300s section. I get they had to fill out the seats but many purposely buy lawn tickets for the experience.

  • Energetic show!

    by Amethyst63 on 2022-07-03Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

Great energy, so nice to get back to an outdoor concert venue! Extra special to be upgraded for free too! Dallas was a bit loud at times & had some feedback issues, other than that, it was a great night!!

  • Great experience

I wasn't familiar with the 2 opening artists but will listen to more of them in the future. The JB band was fun to see live. An unexpected cover song was amazing. Dallas invited new artists out during his set, very cool to pay it forward. The venue was terrific. Overall great concert, best night out in a long time.

  • Overall it was a good concert with great energy!

    by PD33 on 2022-07-03Budweiser Stage - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

The overall sound quality was not great. As the bands changed the sound did get better, but it was hard to hear the musicians sing.

Great show. Staff friendly and very nice. We originally had seats in 301 and was offered a upgrade for free so of course we took it. JoJo Mason was great, amazing singer and performer. JBB did an awesome job, felt like I was listening to the album when he’s on stage. Dallas Smith again was amazing!!! Seen him a couple times already and always puts on a great show. Love the fact that he brings new artists on tour with him and highlights them. He seems like an amazing guy. Songs old and new song. Fabulous!!!

  • Great venue but sound wasn't clear

by Tim on 2022-07-01Leon's Centre - KingstonRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the concert and musicians overall but found the sound wasn't arranged properly, the instruments and bass overpowered the singers and they were often impossible to hear. I like a loud concert but not one where I can't hear the main part of the music experience. Also James Barker Band while good were on stage too long and seemed more interested in playing their own set rather than opening or hyping up for Dallas Smith.

  • My opinion

by Old? on 2022-07-01Leon's Centre - KingstonRating: 3 out of 5

Dallas Smith and JBB gave great performances BUT the sound was not good. It was so loud it hurt my ears and sounded distorted. I thought it was because I was old 😬, but my kids were there too and they said they didn’t understand why it was so loud. I was ready to get out of there before I even heard the above perform but stuck it out because I like both bands. Not sure if it had anything to do with the fact that the arena wasn’t full but would have appreciated if some adjustments had been made. When leaving the arena I said it might be my last concert.

  • Distorted sound

by CH on 2022-06-26Meridian Centre - St CatharinesRating: 2 out of 5

I'm a big Dallas Smith fan, but I was disappointed with this show. The opening acts, in particular, the James Barker Band were excellent and the sound quality was perfect. Then Dallas came on, love the songs, love the energy, etc; but they cranked the volume up so loud that throughout the show it bordered on distortion. Loud is fun, loud is exciting, but don't compromise the sound quality for the sake of being overly loud.
