Excellent show! his talent on the guitar is incredible, the musicians with him too! The sound quality was very surprising for an outdoor gig, very impressive. He is not a performer but he is an incredible musician. If you know a little bit of his repertoire do yourself a favor an go to his show.....

  • À voir en salle

by Carl Archambault on 2021-09-19Scène TD - MontrealRating: 2 out of 5

  • A wonderful evening of music

This was Daniel Lanois' first concert since the pandemic began, and many among the crowd voiced the same impression. A quick thank you to the Jazz Fest organizers....this event was awesome, very well controlled and felt very safe.

Daniel Lanois will jump into his own timelines of work. Many judged the representations they saw from Flesh and Machine as sounds instead of music, they need to remember that Lanois and his brother were first and foremost ambiance music guys when they started. Dan made the jump into a more public sound afterwards, but still, this is his passion. I would recommend to those who didn't like Flesh and Machine shows to always know the latest work from your artist before going to a show because that's probably what will be presented on a new tour. For me, it was a mix of all of his worlds and it was a h*ll of a journey. Lanois surrounds himself with some of the best musicians in the world, and it shows. They have the ability to play off the sounds, bounce notes from one to another and play in a perfect circle. Flesh and Machine is behind, but I do feel like those songs will come out from time to time and well as his classic songs. Be prepared to be immersed into a world of music and sounds, that's what Lanois' body of work actually is. His new album takes a journey onto the gospel sounds, can't wait to hear the body of work that will come through this year. Seen him countless times.. Not one bad show if you know what he's actually doing this time around. The 2021 Mtl Jazz festival should be one incredible experience.

There's good reason why Daniel Lanois is a music icon. He puts on a fantastic show. He's a true showman and you can tell that he is putting his heart and soul into his performance. It's all about the music with this man. Don't pass up an opportunity to see a true music legend.

not sure what I expected, but surely not this self indulgent noise. Takes his rep far too seriously. Had to leave part way through to save my sanity as I was becoming very annoyed at the sounds that strayed far away from "music" OH, and my seats were not available as balcony was closed. So my dead centre vantage on the aisle was shifted to far right floor, Definitely NOT what I paid for,

While I can appreciate the artistry and talent of the musicians it was overwhelming to have to listen to a whole concert of experimental electronic noise and visuals. I felt like a lab rat. It was just too much - too loud, too many songs that sounded exactly alike. Sorry, I will restrict my appreciation of Daniel Lanois' talent to his contributions behind the scenes in the future.
