We LOVED Train! Saw them at Budweiser Stage last summer and we swore we'd see them every chance we could. Great songs, fabulous interaction with audience, and full of energy. As luck would have it, they were touring with Hall and Oates. I jumped at the chance to get tickets for my hubby who's been a fan since he was a teen and has always wanted to see H & O. Getting to see Train as well was like winning the lottery twice... or so we thought.
When H & O, came out on stage, the audience jumped up and that should have shown that the crowd was with them, ready to sing along and dance to their hits. As the show went on, people around us (section 101) were shouting out, "end it", "how do you wreck a great 4 minute song? make it 12 minutes", etc...
When you announce that you had a poorly reviewed and received album that was "experimental" but you're going to play songs from it "because, well, we can!" Give your head a shake, guys. This was when I went for a bathroom break and walked around the ACC for a bit. I NEVER do that at a concert. It was a true let down for my darling husband and for that I regret staying after Train left the stage.
BOTTOM LINE:
Train: See them, you won't regret it. FANTASTIC!
Hall & Oates: Save your money and pull out the vinyl, cassettes, cds, or cue up Spotify. You won't be disappointed this way.
