I will say that you can tell Dr. Hooks age but he still did put on a good show.
I love the oldies and I can be forgiving if you voice cracks here and there but..............the entire show was out of tune and sometimes inaudible. If it wasn't for the fact that I was a huge Dr. Hook fan and I am familiar with the songs most of the time it was hard to tell what was being sung. And occassonally the feed back on the microphone was piercing.
Dr. Hook is probably one of my wife's favourite banda, so when they came through I knew we had to see them. I don't know what I expected, but the show surpassed my expectations. Ray may be gettibg old and possibly ill, but he can still sing. You could tell that the band has a real camraderie and that they enjoyed the show. The current bassist really seemed to be the glue holding everyone together. This is likely the last chance to see this underrated band, do yourself a favour and check them out id they come to your town
The music was great and brought back many good memories. The only negative was Ray Sawyers consistant whining about how few beer they were given for during the performance. To me, they are there to entertain and should drink water or pop while on stage.
the person running the mixing board seemed to focus on the guitarist and the music was often so loud it would drowned out Dr. Hook Cover
Don't waste your money... Can't hold a tune, too old. Simply put on an old album & enjoy!!!!
he should not be performing anymore. very old, looked dirty. he has 3 beers to drink behind him. i think he was drunk thats why he was also out of tune. spent $53 for nothing. a waste of time and money.
It felt exciting to be taken back to my childhood when I listened to all the great songs that they played. It was a fantastic time that was held by all.
For a 77 year old man, he still knows how to entertain. Love him and the band!
Dr.Hook was great! Very cool to hear the old tunes live!
I am kinda disappointed in all the negative reviews here on Dr Hook featuring Ray Sawyer... Like what did people expect to see, Ray is no longer 30 years old, he is like 77 years old and I think for that age the guy did a pretty good job!!!! I doubt any of you sound or look like you did when you were 30 years old. Too bad some of you bought tickets and didnt enjoy the show cause I had friends that couldnt get tickets that would have loved to go to the sold out show! If you go to the show expecting what it sounded like when it was recorded in a recording studio where they take all the best tracks and mash them together than of course you are not gonna be happy, but if you go there for the experience and to relive your youth you will have an awesome time like some have put down in their reviews. I would recommend this show to those who can listen with an open mind and enjoy a 77 year old legend performing his songs and interacting with fans who enjoy the music he recorded so many years ago!!!!! Also what a great venue the Century Casino Edmonton is, loved that they had a dance floor out front for all of us fans to dance and enjoy the show!!!
We always have a great time at the Dr Hook Concerts at the Century Casino Edmonton
Poor Ray can no longer remember the words to his songs. It may just be his time to retire and think back that he had a good career. He can no longer carry a tune either and he had to depend on the rest of the band to keep him in tune or sing louder then him when he didn't know the words. If you are a Dr. Hook fan I would recommend spending a quarter of the money you did on the ticket and buy the album.
I grew up listening to his music so I quite enjoyed listening to his music in person. Would definitely see Dr. Hook again.
Worst show I've seen in my life and I'm a huge Dr. Hook fan.
I went to this event keeping in mind that Ray Sawyer is 76 years young and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Of course he doesn't sound like he used to but he is fun to watch and is very entertaining. The audience is a mixture of young and old and regardless of the age know the words to all the songs.
All the people that have been giving bad reviews have to lighten up. Although I find the music to be brilliant, and Shel Silverstein is one of my favourite songwriters, that is not why it is so close to my heart. I love it for the counter culture hippy dippy folk sing along sex, drugs and rock and roll (With a little bit o' country). That is what I got at this show. I've seen them 4 times now, and yes, he is getting older. Things aren't as polished as they used to be, but that is part of the charm. I will continue to go to his shows until they aren't happening anymore. May I suggest a little Vitamin T? If I had any complaint it would be the venue. Dr. Hook should be a dance and party show, not a sit down and watch show.
I was totally disgusted with Dr. Hook featuring Ray Sawyer. They were late starting and every 10 mins Ray Sawyer had to leave the stage. The band was good but Ray Sawyer was terrible. It was a waste of money and I couldn't wait for concert to end. Ray Sawyer needs to retire so he doesn't disappoint his fans any further. I would not recommend going to see him. He just isn't worth the money. I am not sure why the Deerfoot Inn & Casino still book his act. I would like to get my money refunded.
We were very disappointed. Ray Sawyer should have retired long ago and left while people still enjoyed listening to him to him. Couldn't sing. I spent over $180 for four tickets. His band was very good and entertaining. Dr. Hook left the stage for one song and one of the band members sang. He was very good. I would like my money back. A complete waste of time and thoroughly disappointing.
Seeing Dr. Hook with Ray Sawyer brought back many great memories. A show worth seeing.
