About

DIANA ROSS IN CONCERT:

As Billboard's "Female Entertainer of the Century," Diana Ross holds an unrivaled place among R&B's rich history of legendary divas. From her time leading the Supremes to her extraordinary solo career, Ross's supple voice, striking looks, and effortless style have made her a timeless icon, as charismatic today as she was in the '60s. Featuring her greatest hits, Motown-inspired backup singers, and all the costume changes you'd expect from a diva's diva, Ross's 2013 shows stunned, setting expectations sky high for her 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Detroit, Ross rose to international superstardom in the '60s as leader of the Supremes, the group that became Motown Records'  golden goose with an unprecedented ten No. 1 hits between the years 1964-1967. After fulfilling her contract with the group, Ross released her self-titled solo debut in 1970, earning her first Grammy nomination with soul classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Following the success of her first solo TV special Diana!, Ross once again topped the charts with 1973's "Touch Me in the Morning," going on to release a hugely successful duet album with Marvin Gaye later that year. In addition to her chart success, Ross established herself as a skilled actor with acclaimed appearances in classic '70s films including Mahogany and The Wiz. Over a career that spans more than half a century, Ross has released 27 Top 40 singles, earning a Guinness World Record as the most successful female artist of all time.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Diana is still the beautiful diva she's always been and stuns in her many sparkling costumes, singing all of the many, many favorites that have made her loved by so many."

"Her voice was wonderful. She was so professional and knew how to work a crowd. Great selection of songs. And her costume changes were fantastic."

"Still a Diva, glamorous, elegant, classy... It was a wonderful show. The crowd in New Orleans adored her, were on their feet almost the entire time, singing along and dancing to her hits -- all well-delivered."

  • Ms Ross is still The Boss

by radison on 2010-09-20Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

A-ma-zing! Ms Ross sang her way, pitch-perfectly through a medley of just some of her many hits, taking us from her early Motown days with The Supremes to her later works. Although drowned out at times by her band in what was arguably not the best venue acoustically speaking, Ms Ross' voice was near studio quality. A little more time to banter with the audience would have been nice, but it was truly a night to remember.

  • Top of her game

    by corn2000 on 2010-09-20Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

Diana Ross was at the top of her game .. Her voice has never sounded better and she looked great and showed that she was just as happy to be there as we were. She didn't spend time talking except for thanking everyone several times with sincerity. At Casino Rama you get an abbreviated show so you spend more money gambling and she did not disappoint with hit after hit after hit. Not one dull moment the whole show. We love you more today than yesterday too Diana.

  • Diana Ross was Good

    by Kiko2 on 2010-09-19Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

Diana is still good at it although her voice is a bit different now. I didn't know that many of the songs I hear on the radio from time to time were sang by her till concert night. Now I will appreciate her songs more. Her exit was too quick ! Did not do one more song after audience wanted her back.

  • Diana Ross still the Boss

by Anonymous on 2010-09-19Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

Had the crowd dancing from the get go. 80 minutes --- 5 gown changes and didn't stop smiling or singing. A great entertainer.

She was all e expected her to be. She was elegant, could be hear and brought back memories. Knew most of the words to her songs. We were a little disappointed with her as she is the first performer since we started going to concerts there that there was no encore performance by her.

  • Diana Ross was amazing!!!

Great concert. Fantastic playlist - all the old favs and more!.

  • Diana Still looks great.

    by LL50 on 2010-09-19Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 4 out of 5

Diana Ross still looks good for the number of years she has ben around, but she sounds great. She sang all her classic songs. One after another. I can't believe how many I actually recognized. She had a constant smile on her face like any pro showperson. A bit disappointed that she did not interact with the crowd very much. She acknowledged her band, but barely. The show was all definitely all about her. She also skipped the Encore. Just went off stage without a good bye and did not come back. That was a let down.

  • Diana Ross was spectacular!!!!!

by MikeyBlueEyes on 2010-09-19Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing performance and very entertaining. The costumes were magnificent and she looked beautiful. What a performance. Better than I ever expected.

  • by Mertz on 2010-09-19Casino Rama - OrilliaRating: 5 out of 5

I LOVED the show and the venue! I was disappointed that it wasn't longer and that there was no "encore". I was also disappointed in the number of people who started leaving before the show was actually over. Perhaps Ms Ross noticed that and refused to come out for an encore??

  • terrible

  • A True Icon!

    by JBB92 on 2010-09-15Stampede Corral - Calgary, AlbertaRating: 5 out of 5

Diana Ross was amazing on Saturday night! Everything from the beautifully designed Bob Mackie gowns to the 13-piece band were top-notch! This was my second time seeing her in concert and I definitely recommended it to anyone!

  • Diana Ross was disappointing

by lonewolf on 2010-09-14Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

The floor seating in the Corral is the most uncomfortable excuse for premium price tickets. The sound system drowned out the whole performance. Percussion and brass sections overpowered this amazing artist. The audience seated on the floor persisted in standing up and dancing. This ruined sightlines and I actually missed three costume changes. Only by leaving my seat to find empty seats in the bleachers did I manage to see Diana, but nothing improved the sound.

  • Diana Ross was fantastic -- The Corral never again

by Magnumpi on 2010-09-14Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

I will definitely watch Diana Ross again!! Thank goodness Diana Ross still has her fantastic voice. I will never watch any kind of show or concert at the Stampede Corral again!!! The venue sucks.

  • Diana Ross

by teutonic on 2010-09-14Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

She was an amazing performer, but her voice was rough around the edges, but that is expected at her age. Truly loved her singing

  • good but short

by oldrt on 2010-09-14Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Diana Ross showed her stuff, including fantastic wardrobe, but her concert was way too short, or maybe it just seemed that way.

  • Diana Ross is now off my Bucket List!

    by maire3 on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Diana Ross was very enjoyable but a little overpriced. A little more audience interaction would have been a plus. Diana's voice was still wonderful and her songs were great although some were a little too slow. Brought back many wonderful memories of days gone by. Thanks Diana.

  • an icon

    by pk426 on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

We enjoyed Diana Ross in concert. She is an icon and is also a part of our history in our personal lives. She grew up with us with her music as we danced in the basements of our homes. American Bandstand was the show to see every Saturday. The entire audience was dancing along with her and Diana did not disappoint us at all. Her concert is very entertaining and a must see!!!
