About

DIANA ROSS IN CONCERT:

As Billboard's "Female Entertainer of the Century," Diana Ross holds an unrivaled place among R&B's rich history of legendary divas. From her time leading the Supremes to her extraordinary solo career, Ross's supple voice, striking looks, and effortless style have made her a timeless icon, as charismatic today as she was in the '60s. Featuring her greatest hits, Motown-inspired backup singers, and all the costume changes you'd expect from a diva's diva, Ross's 2013 shows stunned, setting expectations sky high for her 2014 tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Detroit, Ross rose to international superstardom in the '60s as leader of the Supremes, the group that became Motown Records'  golden goose with an unprecedented ten No. 1 hits between the years 1964-1967. After fulfilling her contract with the group, Ross released her self-titled solo debut in 1970, earning her first Grammy nomination with soul classic "Ain't No Mountain High Enough." Following the success of her first solo TV special Diana!, Ross once again topped the charts with 1973's "Touch Me in the Morning," going on to release a hugely successful duet album with Marvin Gaye later that year. In addition to her chart success, Ross established herself as a skilled actor with acclaimed appearances in classic '70s films including Mahogany and The Wiz. Over a career that spans more than half a century, Ross has released 27 Top 40 singles, earning a Guinness World Record as the most successful female artist of all time.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Diana is still the beautiful diva she's always been and stuns in her many sparkling costumes, singing all of the many, many favorites that have made her loved by so many."

"Her voice was wonderful. She was so professional and knew how to work a crowd. Great selection of songs. And her costume changes were fantastic."

"Still a Diva, glamorous, elegant, classy... It was a wonderful show. The crowd in New Orleans adored her, were on their feet almost the entire time, singing along and dancing to her hits -- all well-delivered."

  • Diana the diva

    by RandBfan2 on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

It was great to be in the presence of an icon. However it was disappointing that at times she was lip-singing and late with her queues. In the end it was amazing when she was really signing. Her live voice is still unique and outstanding, I still enjoying hearing all her hits lipsinging or not.

  • Diana Ross was Fantastic!

by AEROCASTER on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

FIVE decades of hit music - everything from a cornucopia of earlier Motown hits to early jazz/blues classics - that were simply mesmerizing and delivered with energy and life. Diana Ross' voice is fantastic, and her presence on stage is just easy and gracious and polished. What a fine performer! Diana's 13-piece band was absolutely tight. Every musician was amazing - her keyboardists, the bass and drummers, that funked out dude nailing that Motown rhythm on his gorgeous custom Stratocaster - and especially Diana's beautiful backup trio and monster 4-piece brass machine. What a sound! When Diana exited for costume changes the band literally dominated the stage. Just an excellent, excellent group! Diana Ross's show was music and entertainment at its best. (despite the venue)

  • Diana Ross was Awesome

by dianarossfan on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

Diana was her wonderful Diva self, I seen her over 20 years ago and she was awesome then and now, she still takes your breath away, Hope she comes to Edmonton so I can see her again. Went to Calgary to see her but would do it again. The only bad thing I could say is a bit pricey for only an hour and a half, but well worth it.

  • She's Still Got It!

by Finest on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

From the start to the finish Diana Ross still has the voice and presence to make a show unforgettable! What a range of styles of music that had us dancing in the isles! And the costumes were fabulous!

  • Diana Ross was fabulous

by Anonymous on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn't sure what to expect since Diana is now 66 years old. I saw her 30 years ago and she was great. This show was even better. Her band was tighter and she had such a confidence and grace that she didn't display as well before. My husband went with me relunctantly however he thought that this was one of the best concerts for a singer that he had seen by the end of the night. I'm so glad we didn't miss her. A show I will remember for a long time.

  • A Living Legend!

by Totofan on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - Calgary, ABRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing performance! At 66, Diana Ross still blows all the contemporary female vocalists out of the water. She's truly deserving of the Diva moniker, and her stage presence is captivating. From her Supremes hits to the present, all songs were performed to perfection and sounded fresh and soulful. The band was fantastic and really complimented the singer, sometimes playing alone (during her many costume changes). Awesome show, not much more I can say,

I saw Diana Ross 30 years ago when I was 22 she sounded and looked just as I remembered her.....fantastic.

  • The Lady still has it!

  • Icon becomes human!

    by mama1t on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

This concert proved that one cannot believe all that one reads! I was pleasantly surprised to view the warm funny, human side of Ms Diana Ross. She was in excellent voice as she streamed through her oldies, covered some faves, and changed her costumes quickly and beautifully! Her sensuous moves, and the confident " I still got it " poses, placed her way above some other Divas, who insist on combatting time with Botox, and lifts.. Ms Ross, you are the Cream......

  • great show but too short !

by schat on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

show was entertaining with all the music we know well (60's,70's,80's) however, too expensive for a relatively short show (approx 90 min)

  • by lazypig on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 3 out of 5

Concert was so so, sound system wasn't good at all, could not hear the other 3 singers voices which they surpose to sing harmony yet couldn't hear their voices at all. For the first couple of songs could not hear Diana Ross's voice, band was way too loud. The music arrangement of the band was poor.

  • Diana a Diva

by lamoni on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

it was great well organized, after the show she was already gone, so no dedication, but it was unforgettable

  • Awesome entertainer!

by curlergal on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

Diana Ross's show was more than I had expected. She played every song that I wanted to hear and many more. She appeared to really enjoy heself and had fun on stage. An amazing lady of 66 years.... highly recommend seeing her! She played for 100 minutes straight without a break other than to change her incredible outfits.

  • Ms Diana Ross, you still have it!!

    by Reflections1 on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 4 out of 5

My only concern is that her program book says this tour is a tribute to The Late Michael Jackson and not one mention of him was sung or spoke about. When you read other reviews on Ms Ross' sit it states that she does a couple of songs in her concert for MJ. Don't get me wrong I loved the concert and she still brought tears to my eyes.

  • Dianna Ross show was terrible!

by Chumleyz on 2010-09-13Stampede Corral - CalgaryRating: 1 out of 5

We found Dianna Ross VERY disappointing. The venue was terrible, but should have know the Corral has terrible sound (bad acoustics off the walls). We went and stood on the floor level which was "a bit" better. She was impersonable. Late starting, only played for about 1 hr. 20 minutes. Didn't talk to the crowd until her last song. When she was done, she was done. No encore and on went the lights. I felt it was a total waste of my time and money.
