  • Lovely show overshadowed by all the merch

by JB on 2023-11-21Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

The show itself was spectacular with gorgeous costumes, interesting sets/props and Disney stories choreographed for the skaters. The deluge of expensive plastic light up toys, crowns, cups and so on was shocking to me. Who really wants to sit by a Mickey Mouse bubble maker or have a light up hook waved in front of their face for the entire show? I loved the skating but the mega consumer atmosphere did not appeal to me.

  • Loved it

All ways wanted to see Disney on ice and it surpassed what I thought,it is worth every penny to see it,would take it in again

  • All that for what

by Disappointed Dad on 2023-11-21Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 1 out of 5

No direction to to where the pre show meet and greet was so wasted money on that. The child labour working the event had no clue where either. Didn’t get the commemorative passes that were paid for. Overpriced everything, worse than hockey games.

  • Good but different

by NJ on 2023-11-21Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

We last saw this show pre-Covid and it was far more spectacular than it was this year. The characters are all still engaging and high energy and the movies chosen were great. But, the sets were lass spectacular, there were fewer interesting props and less intricate routines. For the price, I expected more. We might go back again but certainly not for a few years.

  • Best show on ice

by TanyaS on 2023-11-20Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 5 out of 5

If was so amazing show on ice . My daughter enjoyed the show and she was so excited to see it. Beautiful costumes and professional performances.

  • Entertaining for the kids but pricey

by DisneyFan on 2023-11-20Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 3 out of 5

I don’t know if it is just growing up and you see things in a different way but I felt like the production quality of this show has gone down. The kids don’t know the difference so they really enjoyed it! The other thing that took away from the experience for me was the cost of merchandise… $25 for a plastic cup and snow cone… quite outrageous.. makes it extremely impractical for a family of five to purchase any merchandise, which is in turn disappointing for the little ones.

  • Fun, if a bit the same each year

by Jabroniville on 2023-11-20Edmonton EXPO Centre - EdmontonRating: 4 out of 5

This is always a pretty good time, with most of the favorite characters of recent years showing up. It's mostly the same show as last year's, and a bit of the year before that, but they occasionally do swaps- last year had the Little Mermaid, and this year had a one-song version of Coco and a long version of CINDERELLA- that was actually new to me! So they do tend to swap in new things periodically, and older stuff at that. Beauty and the Beast, Tangled, Moana and of course Frozen are the old reliables that always seem to be here- they tell quickie versions of the stories but are usually good stuff. There's a lot less flash than when they were at the big Skyreach Center show (no giant snowflake descending from the ceiling, nor Rapunzel doing her "rope spin") so it's mostly just basic twirls, fun props (especially Tamatoa!), the characters kids like, and more. Most seats are pretty decent on the lower floor- performers seem trained to show "each section"their faces so kids can see them. The far sides of available seats are less good but you can see fun backstage stuff periodically (like upcoming props or a villain helping a heroine with her gear). Standard overpriced food is available (at least the venue has its own pop machines), like $7 popcorn. And the same old merch time and again- like some fairly ugly Frozen dolls (at $50 apiece!) and 'only sometimes on model' plastic toys. They could stand to step up their game on that front.

  • Rise Above the Merchandise

by LousyAct on 2018-03-26FirstOntario Centre - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

We went to Disney on Ice several years ago and were floored by the loosely patched together story and minimal ice theatrics centered around what is essentially an excuse to sell over priced branded plastic garbage, zero nutritional value sugar treats and glowy things. Though all that is still there, we greatly enjoyed the entertainment on the ice this time around, and were pleasantly surprised with the creativity and production of the Tangled, Frozen and Moana numbers. The ice performers were very talented, showing a great range of skating ability and exaggerated stage acting to go along with the audio voiceover. The Tangled duet was spectacular and saving the Moana section to close the show certainly gave us the best for last. Shiny was a wonderful number for kids and parents and the Moana sequences were a highlight for us.

  • Dare to Dream was phenominal and mesmorizing!!!

by Anonymous on 2018-03-25FirstOntario Centre - HamiltonRating: 5 out of 5

The Disney on Ice performance was simply unforgettable for the 7 children especially but also for the 9 adults with them. We purchased 14 rinkside seats as two of our children were under the age of 2. The seats we purchased from the ticket master site were set up different from the actual layout. This was disappointing but we figured it out, or so we thought. There seemed to be a mix up with one seat. The staff were helping to figure it out when but the woman who had 2 seats was not happy with the time it was taking, the show started and she got her two seats while I was told to just "sit in a seat and we will figure it out at intermission" ! So our party of 16 who spent over $1200.00 on tickets were not able to sit together (with their own kids & grandkids)as we had purchased because the woman who showed up just as the show started wanted a quick solution!!! By the way, no one came back at intermission to offer a more accommodating and satisfactory solution for my family. I WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT THE SEATS AT ALL !

  • Fantastic Performance

    by Jacquie1 on 2018-03-23FirstOntario Centre - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

I would definitely recommend bringing the entire family. We all enjoyed it but my youngest daughter (almost 3) might have been a bit young. She wouldn’t sit still and didn’t really pay attention much. My 5 year old was glued to the ice though.

    by Ro21 on 2018-03-21FirstOntario Centre - HamiltonRating: 4 out of 5

Fun for all ages and a great way to spend your day as a family. The only negative part was the vocals and music was not loud enough in the 200 level sections.
