    Great Live Band!

by Emorts on 2012-09-07Lee's Palace - Toronto

The Divine Fits put on a fantastic show! Although the opening act was somewhat boring the main act was well worth the wait! I would highly recommend this new super group to anyone interested in great live music. Awesome show :D

Greater Than The Sum Of Its Parts

by JerkInTheCorner on 2012-09-07Lee's Palace - Toronto

The show was obviously fantastic. Dan probably has his own dressing room at Lee's Palace, he's there so much. With more than half of the band being American, they really felt at home in Toronto. The band sounded tight for only their 12th show (ever), they were definitely having a great time and you can tell by their interactions that everyone in Divine Fits is truly doing that they want right now. They played 13 songs (all 11 songs form the album) and were onstage for just a bit over an hour. The in-house sound guy did a great job mixing, The crowd was great and if I had one complaint, it would be that there was very little merch for sale. All they had was the CD and a really half-assed gig poster. I normally buy gig posters for every show I attend but this was not worth it one bit. Would have been nice to see some shirts, maybe a tour-only 7" or at the least, stickers and pins. Maybe next time. If you listen to the album, it sounds like a perfect mix tape between Spoon and Handsome Furs. They executed them on stage flawlessly. I was more than impressed with how they sounded live. It's bands like this that make you appreciate the intimacy of a small venue like Lee's Palace. There's a pretty good chance that next time they come through town it will be at a much bigger spot.
