About

As the country music superstar behind an estimated 100 million album sales, a successful film career, and her very own theme park Dollywood, Dolly Parton is one of American music’s most enduring icons. On tour in 2013 Parton continued to captivate fans with her engaging live concerts, treating ticket buyers to career-spanning sets of her greatest hits peppered with compelling personal stories while building anticipation for the release of her 42nd studio album in 2014. Parton released her 41st studio album Better Day in 2011, a country-dance hybrid that topped charts around the world and spawned the hit single “Together You and I”. After a musical childhood in the Great Smoky Mountains, Parton headed for Nashville the day after her high school graduation, eventually achieving mainstream success in the early ‘70s with a string of No. 1 hits including “Jolene” and “I Will Always Love You”. It’s hard to overstate the scope of Parton’s accomplishments since then – from 25 No. 1 singles to the blockbuster success of films like 9 to 5 and Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, she 's become a beloved household name and recipient of numerous awards, including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

    Dolly is amazing!

by DollyRocks on 2016-09-15MTS Centre - Winnipeg

Dolly Parton is an amazing entertainer and a beautiful person inside and out. She is such an inspiration! The show was scaled down but was just as good and memorable as any over produced show. This shows how good a singer is by not hiding behind all the bells and whistles! Thank you Dolly!!

Dolly Put On A Fabulous Show

by JAF1 on 2016-09-13Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

What a great concert! Dolly was so entertaining, funny, down to earth and told the best stories! Her voice was amazing too! Loved when she sang a cappella. I have waited about 40 years to get the opportunity to see her and she did not disappoint! She has been my idol since I was a little girl. Loved seeing her first stop on the Canadian portion of her tour! If you get the opportunity to see Dolly Parton in Concert, make sure you go! She was everything I thought she would be and more, in concert! Fabulous Show!!!

    Dolly (from very far away)

by DollyFanToronto on 2016-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Dolly sounded great, but for a venue with so many people on the general admission lawn seats (very, very far from the stage), WHY NO VIDEO SCREENS?! Yes, I get this was the "Pure & Simple" tour so it was a stripped down, bare bones presentation. I'm not asking for lasers and pyrotechnics, but even just two big video screens would at least have let thousands of us actually see Dolly.

    Dolly Parton is amazing!

by kimav on 2016-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Great show! No opening act, though and no video screens. I think that should have been info provided upon buying tickets as that may have made a difference to people buying lawn seats.

Pure and simple or cheap and cheerful?

by Kentski on 2016-09-12Molson Canadian Amphitheatre - Toronto

Second time taking my mother-in-law to see Dolly Parton, previously saw her at Rama which I thought was a better show. Dolly herself was great as always, but I was disappointed in two things about the stripped down show: 1. No drummer. Notwithstanding the cute story that Dolly told about replacing the drummer with a drum machine, one of the reasons I like seeing Dolly is her top-notch Nashville musicians. To not bring a drummer along to save a few bucks, wasn't something I expected or appreciated. 2. No video. As nice a venue as Molson Amphitheater is, if you're in the back sections or the lawn, It's a long way to the stage comma and to not have video screens showing Dolly was inexcusable. I've been to dozens of shows at this venue, and I can't remember another artist you didn't have video. I just kept thinking that the poor folks at the back of the line must have just seen a little dot on stage, which was a disservice to them and to Dolly's performance. Overall, I think if you're an artist of Dolly Parton's stature that people expect a certain level of show, especially considering the ticket prices that were charged. Of all the artists, dolly is the last one that I thought would go cheap. Maybe she's getting bad management advice, if she is she should fire them and get back to the Dolly we know and love.

Her voice is great. She talks a lot about growing up. They didn't want the side screens that project the stage on so we really couldn't see her as well.

Too 'pure and simple' for me

by Hosni on 2016-08-08The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

I am not a hardcore fan of Dolly. I do like some of her songs, the ones with an upbeat rhythm. I would say that I enjoyed half of the show, when Dolly performed the upbeat hits. I felt there was too much talking. The lack of video screens was a disappointment at such a large venue. For someone who is 70, Dolly delivered as solid performance.

    Love Her

by OakFan on 2016-08-07The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

Great show by Dolly a multi talented lady. Her stories she told were very interesting along with all the musical instruments she played through out the show. Show length around three hours with an intermission much better than a quick 90 minutes and gone as a lot of the shows at Caesar's are in length. Not sure what the black box hanging in front of the stage was used for but I can see why some of the fans were annoyed by it. Definitely a show worth attending.

very polite and interactive artist with her fans. Life stories of herself growing up and how the songs related to them give a great understanding to the songs. Very talented artist and going strong at 70

Dolly's concert was very entertaining with her telling stories and songs. Needed projection screens so people further away from the stage could actually see her!

Worst concert I have ever been to

by Phylly on 2016-08-07The Colosseum at Caesars Windsor - Windsor

This was the worst - no screens to see Dolly upclose - what was the point - looked like a horror movie with the monitor she was sitting behind - could not see her head - a terrible show for what we paid we feel we need the money back -

    Dolly Parton was amazing

by NannyLou on 2016-07-23Grand Casino Hinckley Amphitheater - Hinckley

This was an absolutely fabulous show. Dolly is incredibly talented and a true story teller. I love her sense of humor. And the stories of her young years. I was blown away by her versatility and energy. She is a true entertainer. My only complaint is about the many, many, many people who were using their phones and cameras to record the event and standing up in front of others to do so. One woman in front of me recorded the entire event. I find this disgusting. It is theft and shows a total lack of respect for the artist who is performing; for the work, time and effort that goes into the act and for others who have paid to see the show.

My childhood dream came true when I was able to see Dolly Parton LIVE in concert. I was 8 rows from the stage. She took my breath away when she stepped on stage. I would go and see her concert in a heart beat. Was a great way for the 3 generation to celebrate together.
