Doug and The Slugs A Lot Fun Just Like Old Times
by Python46 on 2011-05-2565th Cloverdale Rodeo Outdoor Stage - Cloverdale, British Columbia, CanadaRating: 5 out of 5I heard they were playing at The Cloverdale Rodeo in Surrey B.C. Sunday, May 22, 2011. I had to go. I met Doug Bennett at his house during Christmas in 1987. He had a rythmic voice, even when he spoke. I was very sad when he passed away a few years ago. I thought how could The Slugs continue? They met Ted S. Okos. Wow, what a set of pipes on this guy. You close your eyes and he sounds like Doug. He has the perfect stage presence for these guys. This is the greatest honour they could achieve, keeping the music of Doug Bennett alive. Simon on keybourds, He's awsome, funny as ever, Steve on bass, Wally on drums, Richard and John on guitars, All The original Slugs from the 1978 line-up. These are Doug and the Slugs. The show was an hour and a half. Every song was great. Opened with Same old Story, then Operator, Some cover tunes done superb. It's Not Unusual, Born to be Mild. (as writen on their setlist) We know all the songs, China Town, Day by Day. Too Bad near the end just before Making it Work. 18 hits they played. Encores Woolly Bully & Walk away. They had the best Videos of the 80's. A real fun band, they had the Rodeo audience dancing and singing. We need Doug and the Slugs to perform more shows. Thanks guys for autographing my album. " Music for the hard of thinking" Their 3rd, from 1982. They have 6 great albums in total. All have hits. Great show! I can't wait for their next one.
