About Dover Motor Speedway

Dover Motor Speedway has hosted exciting racing and entertainment events for national and international guests for more than 50 years.

In 2024, the 1-mile oval nicknamed the "Monster Mile" hosts another NASCAR tripleheader weekend, including the Wurth 400 NASCAR Cup Series race. It will be the 106th NASCAR Cup Series race at the track. Dover is one of only 10 tracks in the country to have hosted 100 or more NASCAR Cup Series events.

Dover has also hosted the Firefly Music Festival, an event that sees more than 50,000 fans each day and more than 100 acts playing across multiple stages, since 2012. In 2024, Dover Motor Speedway will host the latest Phish festival from Aug. 15-18.

Notable acts that have appeared at Firefly include Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Eminem, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Kendrick Lamar, Foo Fighters, Outkast, The Black Keys, The Killers, Jack White, Kings of Leon, Imagine Dragons, Lizzo, Billie Eilish, Mumford & Sons and Post Malone.

History of Dover Motor Speedway

The green flag dropped on Dover Motor Speedway events on July 6, 1969, when Richard Petty won that day's Mason-Dixon 300 by six laps.

The Speedway's high banking - peaking at 24 degrees in Turns 1-2 and Turns 3-4 - provides a difficult challenge for America's best drivers, teams and equipment, leading to the track's famous Monster Mile moniker. The banking also provides the high speeds found at Dover, making the Speedway the World's Fastest One-Mile Oval.

The Monster Monument at Victory Plaza, Dover's famous 46-foot statue, has welcomed fans to the Speedway's Fan Zone since 2008. The base of the 40,000-pound Monument showcases plaques honoring every race in track history.

NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson is the all-time leader with 11 Dover Cup Series victories, followed by NASCAR Hall-of-Famers Bobby Allison and Richard Petty with seven apiece.
