About

DR SEUSS’ HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” and “Welcome Christmas” from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small,” decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don’t miss what The New York Times calls “AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story.”

    The Grinch was Great!

by stryperman on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

We took our 7 year old son! He was fixed on it for the whole time. Entertaining, Humorous and best of all, full of the word, "CHRISTMAS!". So nice to hear the word Christmas used over and over and over and over and over again! The songs were fun, the costumes Seussical and the sing along tunes enjoyable. I highly recommend it for the kids!

    Very Grinchy Christmas

by lilexy on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Great Show - took my 11 and 7 year old children and they both loved it. Actor playing the Grinch (aka Robbie Rotten from LazyTown - a favourite show of my son's until it went off air in Canada) was amazing, as was the actor playing the elder Max the dog (what a voice!!!!!).

    The Grinch was terrific!

by Muse2 on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The Grinch was wonderfully awfully good. My family enjoyed the music, the choice of narrator was superb, terrific costumes, and of course the Grinch was very humorous and entertaining. Great way to start our Christmas holidays. Bravo!

The Grinch Stole Christmas was absolutely fantastic! My grandson had never been to a live Musical before, and he thought it was amazing! It kept the kids attention and moved along in the story very well. The Characters were just like the movie! And special effects were out of this world! BUT ONE NEGATIVE NOTE I WILL MAKE- I thought the products for sale in the Lobby, whoever was in charge of this event- made these products WAY too EXPENSIVE! Ridiculous prices for the items- which were for mostly children. which makes going to these events even MOre EXPENSIVE, or disappointing for children who cannot also take part in getting a souvenir because of the outrageous prices you place on them. Toronto thing?- squeeze out all the money you can from parents>?

How The Grinch Stole Christmas - AWESOME

by Bydand on 2010-12-21Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

We had a great time!! Well worth it! Only thing that we wish could have been better, articulation of the songs. On some of the songs the words were lost and we could not understand them.

    It had great potential

by Teatime on 2010-12-21Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The Grinch himself was great. Unfortunately the Whos were difficult to understand at times... the sound wasn't all that clear. The set was a little boring. The best part of the show was how the Grinch interacted with the audience... he was very engaging! Older Max also had a wonderful voice. The show had such potential.... it wasn't at all like the Broadway show. The Sony Theatre is like walking back in time... old outdated artwork... cheap carpeting and the smell of pizza, popcorn, french fries and chicken fingers was off-putting. I don't think they had the right facilities to serve food.... people were standing around and some even sat on the floor to eat?! For the money paid for these seats, I expected a better overal experience from the Sony Theatre!

Grinch was Amazing!!! Everyone should see it!!!!

by Motheroftwins on 2010-12-21Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

The Grinch was just amazing. The costumes were classy and I was in awe throughout the entire performance. The 3 kids all 8, were just glued to the stage. They enjoyed it immensely. There was not an intermission so the so ran 90 minutes and the kids did not flinch they were so enthralled in the show. The Grinch was just terrific, he played a wonder part. The sets were just amazing and it looked really Christmassy. Everyone should take their children if they can, it is the classiest show that I have seen in a long time. I hope the Sony Centre does something else next year as well.

    Perfect for 9 year olds!

by JulsV on 2010-12-21Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

This was a good performance. The Grinch and Cindy Lou made the show due to their talents! The Grinch actor has lots of personality, that is not written into any scripts and Cindy Lou is a very talented 10 year old (I could definitely see her in Annie!!). The costumes and props were good. The music and the way the story was told is a little different from the movie and the made-for-TV movie, but still enjoyable. I had my 9 year old daughter and 12 year old son and it was a good-feel-good family event. My 9 year old enjoyed it the best!
