About

DR SEUSS' HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS! THE MUSICAL is the record-setting Broadway sensation which features the hit songs "You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch" and "Welcome Christmas" from the original animated television special. Max the Dog narrates as the mean and scheming Grinch, whose heart is "two sizes too small," decides to steal Christmas away from the Holiday loving Whos. Magnificent sets and costumes inspired by Dr. Seuss' original illustrations help transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, as this sparkling production breathes new life into this timeless story of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't miss what The New York Times calls "AN EXTRAORDINARY PERFORMANCE! 100 times better than any bedtime story."

  • Fantastic!

The show was amazing from start to finish. It was not scary for the children and the Grinch had the audience with him all the way. It's a show not to be missed. I would recommend this to everyone.

This musical was so well done - the best part was the way the cast engaged the young audience. They were laughing and involved in the production. Lots of fun for all.

  • The Grinch was a fun family seasonal event

by CheapSeater on 2010-12-26Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 3 out of 5

It was slow getting started; didn't get going until nearly half way through. Far too LOUD. The Whos down in Whoville were annoying enough to make us empathize with the Grinch. The Grinch engaged the audience well. To get the full benefit, there needs to be lots of children in the audience. The actors had good, strong voices. The percussionist was amazing. The costumes and props made you feel you were inside the book. This part doesn't fit in the "Favourite moment" section. In one of his engage-the-audience moments, the Grinch made a comment about those of us in the cheap seats. I also liked when they had us sing along, but we couldn't see the words. This part doesn't fit in "Tell us about your seats" The N seats were at the top of the aisle, so there was no one in front of us, but they were next to speakers and it was too loud. The view was fine but you couldn't see the top half of the Grinch when he was flying.

  • Perfect Christmas treat.

Took an 8 year old and his grandparents to see this and everyone had fun. Great characters and singing. The Grinch was superb! Wouldn't take a very young child as it might be a little scary in parts.

  • disturbing

by Beebi on 2010-12-24Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

Sitting next to us was a bunch of teenagers who were using their phones texting. I was rather disturbed cos the screen light kept coming on the entire time. They were getting up and going in and out of their seats....talking and laughing during the performance. At the latter of the show, I finally had to tell them that their behaviour was rather disturbing. They did not seem to care cos they continued. I did not pay over $200 for this. I was rather disappointed. The Grinch did a pretty good job. However, my children who are 18 and 15 did not appreciate the Who's performance. They found them a bit over the top. However, we really liked the persons who made the props. Great Job there.

I took my daughter (she's 4) to see the Grinch and she absolutely LOVED it! She has asked to see it again . Hopefully it will be on again next year :) Her only sad moment was when she found out that she couldn't meet the Grinch after the show. She really wanted to meet him :)

The play was good, but the price of the ticket was too much for the location of the seat. Price for upper balcony seat should be more affordable. Not everyone can afford the front row seat, but for the rest of us please make the back seats reasonably priced.

Great show...our 9 & 11 year old kids loved it. The sound quality at the Sony Center was excellent. Fabulous costumes and the Grinch was the perfect mix of scary and funny. Cindy Lou Who was adorable!

It was hard to enjoy when kids were constantly kicking your chair and parents are clueless. I also sat in the section from where the spotlight on the characters was right in my eyes the whole show , making us watch the show sideways because of the light and they were not cheap tickets.

The Grinch was an absolutely excellent production.

  • A new Family Christmas Tradition

by Soup63 on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 4 out of 5

It was amazing to see my most favourite Christmas show come to life. Little Cindy Lou Who was just what I imagined her to be. The Grinch stole the show when he interacted with the audience and had everyone in stitches. A must see for every family.

  • The Grinch saved the day

by Anonymous on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

we were overall disappointed with the music in the show. It let the cast down. Great props and costumes and two great songs from the movie, the rest were just painful. The Grinch himself was awesome, had the kids in stitches, very well played and he was worth going to see.

  • Great Family Event !

by jomylo on 2010-12-22Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

What an amazing musical. Perfect for every age group. It really brought the true meaning of the holidays through a fun and magical performance. Highly recommended. (On a side note, it would have been nice if there was a program as a keepsake for the kids. I know when I go to other musicals I always get something as I walk in).
