  • Eagles of Death Metal rocked my world!

by kittenpants on 2009-07-24Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

The opening band, Flash Lightning kicked off the show in a good way with their blues influenced rock... and the Eagles put on the best show I have ever seen! They rocked so hard! It was heaps of fun and their showmanship was amazing! I had a smile on my face from start to end and was up dancing all night. I loved that they sold fake moustaches at the tshirt stand. They are genuine and hilarious guys who rock harder that any band I've seen in a while, and they have fun doing it! Great night!!

This concert was FANTASTIC!! I had never been to a show at the Edmonton Event Center before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I was very pleased with this venue. It was small enough that it had a very intimate feel, but big enough that it wasn't overly-crowded. What can I say about the band.....they were AMAZING! These guys really know how to rock! They were really interactive with the crowd, and due to the intimate nature of the venue, at times I felt like they were playing directly to me. Jesse Hughes' mike was a little low, and at time's I couldn't clearly hear all the words, which sucked a little. However, they did play all my favorite songs, and I was singing at the top of my lungs anyways. Also, they definitely didn't skimp out when it came to the encore performance. They came back on stage and played another handfull of songs, including "Speaking in Tongues", which was my favorite song of the night. Finally, at the very end of the show, Jesse Hughes ripped off his t-shirt...(well...tank top actually), and threw it into the crowd where three or four girls who were right in front of me proceeded to fight eachother over it.

  • Great Show!

The show last night was the best show I've ever seen at the EEC. The set list was great from both Flash Lightnin' and Eagles of Death Metal. A show to remember!

I have to say I didn't know alot of Eagles of Death Metal, my boyfriend showed me their music but it really didn't matter at the concert. The concert left me wanting to get their cds and made me a bigger fan. Excellent show! Would definately reccomend it! Tip... if your not wanting to get pushed around...stay to the sides...

The moment the lights went out and the show began, the entire crowd in the Commodore Ballroom was ready for an upbeat, energetic and interactive show put on by the EODM. There was a good balance of songs from all of their albums including a few covers including "Brown Sugar". The band was really into the show and feed off of the audiences energy. Even after the encore, fans were waiting around to see if a second encore would possibly happen but sadly didn't happen.

  • Love them, but concert was a little disappointing

by Rena on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 3 out of 5

I really like EODM - they have great music, and I was really looking forward to the concert. The Commodore Ballroom is by far the best concert hall out there. The concert ended up being fun and I danced like crazy - but the sound was completely off. The bass was so loud, it completely drowned out Jesse's voice. Couldn't hear him, which is too bad - he has a great, energizing voice, and just listening to the instruments didn't cut it for me! As well, where was Josh??!!! I was looking forward to seeing him on drums. All in all, it was an average concert with some good moments, but I have been to way better. On another note, the opening band, Flash Lightnin', was amazing, and their sound was GREAT!!! Too bad they couldn't play more than what they did as they were AWESOME!!!

  • I Got 'Stached'

by sweetchild on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

Holy Crap The Eagles ROCKED the Commodore ballroom! There is nothing more genuine about this band riffing a natural funk rock groove. The crowd was charged with the 'Staches' electric presence! I went into the show not the biggest fan by any means, I liked the sound and was a little sceptical about spending $40+ on a show I was hum ha about. That was first taken away by their openers (who should title their own tour!) Flash Lightning. As soon as EODM hit the stage all out with huge hits, there was no turning back! I was undisputedly in a state of rock and roll! I couldn't the toe tap, head bob and horn salutes! Definately GO!! You won't look back!

  • Jesse Hughes & co Rock the Commodore

by DeathBySexy on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

On their second night in Vancouver, Jesse Hughes and the rest of the Eagles of Death Metal boys put on an entertaining, hard-hitting show. The opening act, Flash Lightnin', put on a fantastic performance to warm up the crowd. Their sound was mildly reminiscient of The Black Keys, only perhaps a bit heavier. The vocalist/guitarist was meek and quiet between songs, likely saving his voice for his Dave Grohl/Dan Aurbach-esque vocal performance. The bassist and drummer matched his intensity, and the trio got the crowd in a frenzy for EoDM. (It is no small feat to get a Vancouver crowd to sing along to songs they've never heard before!) Jesse Hughes and the crew stepped onto the stage at about 10:30 to Kool and the Gang's Ladies' Night - perfectly fitting, if unexpected. They proceded to blaze through a fiery set of sexy songs, highlighted by Hughes's chicken-like dance moves. (He may have been going for Jagger, but he was a bit of the mark. Either way, it was definitely entertaining.) Banter between songs was perhaps a bit drawn out, but most of the crowd seemed to play right into his hands, so I suppose Hughes simply gave the people what they wanted - the story of a few Canadian 'babies and their boyfriends' coming to his aid when he had defended a "little old lady" on Sunday night certainly went a little further in winning the favour of the ladies in the audience. (At least 3 pairs of panties were thrown on to the stage throughout the night.) Overall, a fast-movin', hard-rockin' show from the best and greasiest rockabilly boys around.

  • Eagles of Death Metal, my sixth time!

    by Bdubs26 on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

Amazing every time I see them! Jessie rocks! He was losing his voice for these two shows so I only gave them 4 stars, usually they are a five!

  • Commodore rocks again

by Kilted on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

From start to finish EoDM lived up to expectations. In an age of overly produced and modified music, it's rare to find a band that sounds better live than recorded. The energy was amazing, the other concert goers were solid, and the Commodore further cemented its reputation as one of THE places to go for good music in Vancouver. I look forward to them touring again.

  • EODM are clearly not the best death metal band

by Keeldude on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

As the Eagles of Death Metal take to the stage and open with their high octane, raucous classic, "I Only Want You," the opening act (already forgot the name) fades miles away. Fun for the whole family, EODM reminds us that the spirit of good ole' rock n' roll, played the way it should be--campy, fun, raucous, catchy--indeed HAS survived the ages within the hearts of a few. The listener has much to gain by seeing this band live: Jesse Hughes is cooler than your mom; the guitars sound MILES heavier--a good thing; the realization that this band has produced a great deal of memorable songs and that the discography isn't nearly as redundant as it may sound on the studio recordings. Bottom Line: You want this band to play at your party.

  • Great show!

by Vancouver on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

As always, Eagles of Death Metal put on an awesome show! The only thing that could have made it better would of been an appearance from Josh Holmes!!

  • Jesse "The Devil" Hughes is the man

by BrendanM on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

My favourite front man to watch by far. Such great energy and the audience builds off it.

  • EODM: Hats off to Jesse !!!!!

by PabloSanchez on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

EODM played a solid set at the Commodore Tuesday night (not sure what was going on with the sound man's work, but it seemed to improved as the show progressed). Hats off to Jesse for performing with the broken jaw he received while saving a lovely lady from her abusive boyfriend. I felt the show was a little subdued as a result of Jesse not rockin' the mic as much as usual, but understandable given the circumstances. Most people would not have done what he did by stepping up to the plate to protect somebody he didn't know and then perform two nights in a row while obviously in significant pain. Jesse, again you've proven how genuine you are about giving your soul to gods of rock n' roll. You and the fellas kicked it hard...Phenominal encore as well. Thanks brother!

by SpeakingInTongues on 2009-07-22Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 5 out of 5

EOFDM was, once again, friggin' awesome. Their sound wasn't up to par, as the vocal mikes were too low, which made the singing very difficult to hear. However, with such a high-energy band, it mattered little. Jesse is the consummate front man. The kind of man that would piss on you without even asking if he could, and by god you'd like it. And 'Speaking in Tongues' is giving 'Paradise City' a run for its money as best closing song ever. Sweet show. I'd see them again in a heart beat.

  • E.O.D.M. were Stellar

by Hoffa on 2009-07-21Commodore Ballroom - VancouverRating: 4 out of 5

In your face rock and roll! E.O.D.M. were awesome. Infectious beats,Party riffs and a high adreneline show. A must see for the average concerts go-er who want to let it loose and have some fun. Opening act was really good as well. I highly recomend this show.

Why can't we have more rock bands that do it right?! Unbelievable show.
