Edmonton Oilers History
The origin of the Oilers goes back to 1972, when they were one of the founding franchises of the World Hockey Association. Once the league folded in 1979, they were one of four teams absorbed into the National Hockey League. It didn't take long for them to establish dominance in the league, reeling off five Stanley Cup Championships in seven years. They are tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for the most championships since the NHL-WHA merger.
The Oilers of the '80s were a phenomenal dynasty with a roster that reads like the Hockey Hall of Fame: Wayne Gretzky, Mark Messier, Paul Coffey, Glenn Anderson, Grant Fuhr, Jari Kurri, plus a stellar supporting cast. Gretzky scored 92 goals in 1982, breaking Phil Esposito’s record for number of goals in a single season. He also recorded a record 215 points in 1985. During his time with the Oilers as center and team captain, Gretzky led the team to four Stanley Cup championships (1984, 1985, 1987, and 1988). By the time Gretzky finished his time with the Oilers, he held or shared a total of 49 NHL records.
In all, the Edmonton Oilers have appeared in the Stanley Cup Final eight times.

NHL superstar Connor McDavid and NHL legends Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier opened the doors to the spectacular Rogers Place(Opens in new tab) in downtown Edmonton in October 2016. McDavid and his Edmonton Oilers bring excitement to Rogers Place nightly, with the statue of The Great One standing guard just outside. The state-of-the-art Rogers Place replaced the aging Rexall Place, and resulted in an explosion of business and residential growth in downtown's ICE District.

This was my first playoff game and all I can say is wow what an experience! Right from the day I arrived in Edmonton the day before the game the atmosphere was next level.

We had an awesome experience! My husband and I came with our adult son and daughter. We came from Lethbridge on game day. We had club seats and were right behind the penalty box, so fabulous seats. The entire vibe was electric!! Great people, great staff, great drinks!! The best experience for our family 🧡💙

I loved the seating, I loved the club access. It was easy & fast with everything. No need to line up long for anything such as beverages, restroom, food & gifts.
We're a family of 3 that drove all the way from Kamloops, BC to go to one of their last home games vs the Kraken, game 4 vs the Kings and game 4 vs the Stars. We won each game which adds to the fun obviously but we really loved the entire experience. All of the employees are amazing, the building is amazing, well worth the effort to go. Thank you TicketMaster and thank you Oil Country!
The game was great. The food was ok. It seemed that some of the food had been sitting for a while even though we were one of the first to arrive. Staff were very friendly and the bar tenders were on it!!

Rogers has new security machines so there was no wait, and no long lineups when entering the arena! That was appreciated and a big improvement. Also they fixed the elevators coming up from the LRT into the building which helps my poor knees walking up those stairs. The fans were treated to towels to cheer the Oilers on. The atmosphere was electric. People were so excited and courteous to each other. Food venues had little line ups as well. Improvements....lower food and drink prices!
Game 6 LA Kings at Edmonton Oilers did not disappoint!!! The arena was electric and the win was huge! Bring on Round 2! Every moment of the event was awesome! Memories for a lifetime!
This experience was the most fun I've ever had! Best fans ever! Best home town crowd ever! An absolute blast
The 220 disability section was blisteringly cold. The towels were a wonderful touch and better than the pom poms. I would like to see a larger beer selection. The price of the event is becoming so expensive and then the cost of consumables is just as high. It would be great to see a game day cheap option created something like a hotdog and a pop for five bucks like it doesn’t have to be fancy but something to make it approachable and affordable for all.
It was a first live game for me and the experience was wonderful. First time ordering online and we did awesome picking great seats close to the ice. I don't have a favorite team but will cheer for the Edmonton Oilers and buy tickets to see them live again. And watching them in Game 3 live to win 7-4 against LA was definitely a game for me to remember
It was my second time at Roger’s place I loved it had good seats in section 212 and they kept tying it up but Edmonton won so that makes me happy and I got to la bamba for the first time I can’t wait to see them again and I had an amazing time with my grandpa
Was a great first experience for me and my boys. They loved everything, from the live band to the crowd. So many great people, was a great night.
