Minnesota Wild History
The state of Minnesota was without an NHL franchise for seven years after the 1993 departure of the North Stars. That void was filled when the city of Saint Paul landed the Wild as an expansion team in 2000. Hall of Famer Jacques Lemaire took over as the franchise's first head coach.
The Wild advanced to the Western Conference Final in 2002-2003 behind the play of right wing Marián Gáborík, and has gone on to post a winning record in almost every season since. Starting with the 2012-2013 season, Minnesota reached the postseason six consecutive times.
Center Mikko Koivu spent his entire NHL career with the Wild and is the franchise's all-time leader in games played, points and assists. In 2022, the Wild retired Koivu's jersey, the first player in franchise history to have a jersey retired. Overall, the Wild has qualified for the Playoffs 13 times in its history.

I haven't been to an NHL game in 20+ years (I lived in Toronto for 4 years while going to school and went to lots of games in the mid-late 90s). The Leafs/Wild game was brutal to say the least. The lack of effort on both teams' behalf was ridiculous. I was confused as to whether I was at an NHL game or Stars on Ice. It seemed like a fun charity match at best. It was the first time for my three boys (who all play hockey) seeing an NHL game and my 12 year-old summed it up the best when he asked if we could leave during the 2nd period so we could go swimming at the hotel pool, he was that unimpressed/bored. On top of the poor quality of play on the ice, we were surrounded by drunk, obnoxious Wild fans. Between tickets, hotel and travel to go to the game, I was out over $1200. A complete waste of money. Beautiful facility but I will never return for another Minnesota Wild game, total waste of time and money.
Like watching paint dry. Exhibition games are the teams way of picking the fans pockets
Great atmosphere, friendly fans and amazing venue!
We enjoyed the game, seats were good, easy access to snacks, and the exit when it was over too.
Game was good. Seats had good view. Had to lean over to see near boards. Was very cold in building. Had strong cold breeze blowing on us all game. Was frozen by the time we left. Could not get a HOT beverage in upper level. People were friendly. Crowd gets wound up, nice to see good fans. Would give 5 stars but was going numb by second period. Been before and would go back but not sit first row section 220 again.
Loved the arena. People very friendly. Great game.
Great facility. Great location. And the Wild are a solid team.
We have never gone to a Stanley Cup Playoff game before. We are from Regina, Saskatchewan Canada and game, seats, fans, players were unbelievable. We had great seats and enjoyed the 1-0 win in overtime. We loved the towels on the seats, the way the fans reacted when a hit or fight started, standing and clapping!!!!! We enjoyed the beer and take home cups and also the Minnesota huge popcorn barrel, and also can get a refill if needed. We liked the Xcel Energy Center, the 50-50 draw, the store where we bought some awesome items from it. The game was unforgettable with only one goal made and for the right team. Go Wild Go!!!!!
It was a great game. XCEL center is an awesome venue. The crowd however was not too enthusiastic about the game. Did not cheer much. Wilds fans need to take notes from Jets fans.
