BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

DeGeneres' career began as an emcee at a local comedy club in her hometown of New Orleans. Her acting career in television included roles in several successful sitcoms before being offered a part on "These Friends of Mine" by ABC. Following the first season, the show was renamed "Ellen." The first initiative of the fund is to build The Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. The campus will permanently secure the future of wild gorillas in Rwanda by building on successful field conservation efforts, while empowering the people living near the gorillas to thrive in relationship to their own ecosystem. This project gives Ellen the opportunity to carry on the legacy of her hero, visionary scientist Dian Fossey, joining her as a protector and champion of the critically endangered mountain gorilla. DeGeneres has also brought awareness to the anti-bullying issue by creating a PSA titled, "Be Kind." Overall, "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" has raised over $50 million for various causes, including global warming and breast cancer awareness.

Her time with us was great but way too short

by thinkagain on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

To be honest the show left me almost in shock that it was over so quickly. I am not sure what I expected but something more than an hour of her history left me wanting more. Not one question from the crowd and very little interaction with the people that spent a ton of money to come see her. If I paid that much for an hour concert I would be really disappointed. Her message was great but she has so much more to share that I feel let down.

Ellen: sweet but too short and very expensive

by zabbee on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

It was really nice to get to see Ellen in person but it was really way too short for the price of the ticket. Many of the stories she told are well known by her big fans so I didn't really learn anything new about her journey but her story is always moving and I'm happy to have had the opportunity to see her in person.

    Not what we expected

by BookerJ on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

While Ellen was engaging and delightful the show seemed slowed down by the limiting questions of Dave Kelly, all of the stories she told have been very public prior to this event. The show was just over an hour and we were out of the building before 8pm. Not exactly the hilarous night out full of dancing that was advertised.

    Easy Listining

by Kailua on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

A surprisingly intimate talk with 15,000 fans listening in. Some personal stories we haven't heard "on air". I was curious on why she chose Calgary as her only Canadian.show. Dave did a great job interviewing.

    a $150+ tix for a TV interview?

by IcantbelieveIpaidforthat on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Too short, too repetitive, Ellen looked like someone dragged to a party that they want to go to and had to put their best face there. About the venue... no alcohol sold after the show started??? That would make it less boring.

Ellen was a wonderful evening, always wish it would go longer, but found out things about her I did not know. I would still long to get tickets to her show. I have tried and no luck so far!! I would recommend anyone to go if they could get the chance.

    Ellen was an alright show

by Golffan on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

I didn't think that Ellen was as excited to be in Calgary, as Calgary was to have her here. She somewhat danced her way across the stage and then off at the end, otherwise she sat mostly unemotionally as Dave Kelly questioned her for almost half the show about her life as a gay lady. I too am gay, but I thought that the conversation would be a little more diverse than that. As expected, Ellen did have some great moments where she talked about her experiences and making a difference. I think that we got to see the caring, loving side of Ellen that we all know and is part of the reason why we are big fans, but I feel like we really missed out on the hilarious Ellen that we also know exists and hoped to see. Sure wished there was more dancing, laughing, and audience interaction. I almost feel like we need to apologize to her...she didn't seem like she really wanted to be here. The seats were amazing, the show was not worth the $350+.

A good fan of Ellen would have known all that stuff about her already. The guy should have asked better questions. I feel I should have gotten more for $300. But I’m still happy because I got to be in the same room as Ellen!!

    Ellen was great but short!

by Rinie on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

Ellen was great, but the show was maybe an hour and a half long! I wish she had done a few moments of a monologue type of talk like she does on her show before the interview. Glad I only paid for the expensive second tier, not the super expensive first!

Too expensive for what it was

by Iloveellen on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

A conversation with Ellen was what I signed up for and what I got. There were a few laughable moments but overall paying $200-400 for an hour of her answering question is just too much

    Loved it!

    by Mary212 on 2018-04-24Scotiabank Saddledome - Calgary

This event was well worth the money. It was entertaining while providing some insight about who Ellen is as a person. Dave Kelly was a great match for their conversation.
