About

Over the course of his more than 50-year career, guitar legend Eric Clapton has covered an immense amount of ground. Along with dozens of album releases and concerts worldwide, he’s received three Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions — one for his solo career and two more as a member of both Cream and the Yardbirds. He’s also earned an unofficial spot high on the list of best rock guitarists of all time.

Though his eponymous solo debut surfaced in 1970, Clapton’s solo career took off in the mid-‘70s with “461 Ocean Boulevard” and its now-ubiquitous single, “I Shot the Sheriff.” The English performer has since released 19 more solo sets, most recently “Old Sock.” That 13-track collection features mostly covers, as well as guest appearances by several established musicians, including J.J. Cale, Paul McCartney, Chaka Khan and Steve Winwood.

Clapton’s numerous tours - both alone and with his many projects — have canvased the globe, with tickets selling out regularly at iconic venues like London’s Royal Albert Hall and New York City’s Madison Square Garden.

    Clapton and Beck - Outstanding

by StevenP on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

I've seen Clapton half a dozen times and always enjoyed his shows. This one was extra special. The only issue is that you can't be late for the concert because Jeff Beck opens and you can not miss him! Beck and Clapton together...Legendary.

    sheer perfection

by Gibby51 on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Even though we didn't have the best seats strategically placed screens helped us see the guitar work close up and the sound was amazing. Fabulous 3 hours ( including a 30 minute break). We'd go again in a heartbeat!

Eric Clapton has the fingers of an angel!

by dvtgram on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Jeff Beck was the opening act for Eric Clapton... His performance with his very own orchestra was also great!! The anticipation for Eric to come out was felt in the air with such electricity! When the "thunder" calmed down, his fans were not disappointed. My favourite song, Layla, was performed second... with many old favourites performed through the rest of the set. Jeff Beck joined Eric near the end, for at least 6? songs. All were awesome!! There was 1 encore song, but we all wished for more!!

    Disappointed

by Neverland on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Would have liked to hear more original songs by Clapton. Too much time spent trying to accommodate the style and acoutics of Beck. Moonriver??? What was that?

    Classic Clapton and Bewildering Beck

by Boomerang on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

Jeff Beck is a great guitar player however I wasn't taken with what he did (notwithstanding his ability to leverage full extent of what he makes a guitar do) and didn't understand what value the string and horn sections he had with him added. Just found his part a little obscure. He was much more entertaining and effective when he got back in the pocket playing blues with Clapton. Clapton was at his musical bluesy best both vocally and on the fret board. Not sure about the unique arrangement of Moon River though and interesting selection of tunes like the Sly and Beatles tunes

    beck good, clapton good but...

by renrox on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

again, the set list of both stars were a little weak, beck is a talented player, far more than clapton, but the again the song choices, beck could have played better pieces, from earlier days of beck ola, and beck bogart/appice, clapton, whell the standard layla, cocaine songs were slowed tempo, the stars together set was really average, crossroads was slower than a waltz pace, and whats with the sly stone song, a couple of cream solid songs like nsu or badge would have been better. beck is still the showman, he is the true guitar hero!!

    Beck and Clapton Incredible Show

by rockandrollstarwannabe on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

WOW!!! What a concert. I have seen Clapton on his own and Beck on his own. The two together was a once in a lifetime opportunity well worth taking. BEck was the guitar GOD we all know him to be - his band was super tight. Clapton entertained, tugged at your heart a little then rocked the place when he and Beck played the blues. Two supreme musicians on the same stage rockin' the joint. Great night.

Excellent concert. Jeff Beck was a bit too loud - my ears are still ringing. When Eric Clapton performed alone, the noise was not too much, even with the electric guitar. His old standards done with the acoustic guitar are always enjoyable. If Jeff could just reduce the noise level a bit, it would be amazing.

Absolutely Wonderful. Sound Quality up in the rafters where we were, was very good. We were also able to see all the action on the stage. This was our first concert at the AC. It did not disappoint! Worth the drive from Kitchener.

    Jeff and Eric rocked!

by Sportsandmusic on 2010-02-22Air Canada Centre - Toronto

It was a great show -- although Eric seems a little bit laid back considering what Jeff brings to the stage. But, once he got warmed up, the show moved along quickly and the playing was excellent!

    These Guys are GooooD

by GreyPower on 2009-07-21United Center - Chicago

Right from the first note, Clapton& Winwood showed their incredible showmanship and a unique ability to combine talents. It was apparent they were having fun and enjoying playing together, which provided a night to remember for the rest of us. A one of a kind experience. They shared the spot-light easily and with purpose. The night had a dynamic flow and background lighting. The slow build in Voodoo Chile left the excitement level; off the frickin charts. They set the tone with Had to Cry Today and smoothed out the acoustics on Layla. As if this wasn't enough ; for an encore out comes Buddy Guy for and you guessed it Sweet Home Chicago. I will remember this night the rest of my life and I bet I'm not the only one!
