An Evening with the One and Only: Leonard Cohen

by MeadowRue on 2009-07-12National Arts Centre - Ottawa

I went solo to see Leonard Cohen and had probably the most memorable evening in all my concert attending life. His songs have a way of capturing emotions very deep inside of my soul. I cried, I laughed, I applauded. He is so cool ! and his back-up vocalists (angels) were very talented and admired. I loved every single minute of his show and will highly praise his genius for the rest of my life.

Leonard Cohen - A Living Legend

by Suzan on 2009-07-12Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

We saw Leonard Cohen in 1993 and again in Hamilton in May 2009 and we both thought this year's concert was even better than in '93, which at the time, seemed very hard to top. He and his entourage sang and played from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m., with only a short intermission, and his voice was as strong and beautiful at the end of the evening as it was at the beginning, even more remarkable, given his age. He was charming and gracious to the audience and gave the spotlight to each of his backup singers and musicians in turn. The quality of the singers and musicians was outstanding and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing each of them showcased throughout the show. Mr. Cohen delighted the audience by doing a jig as he left the stage before the intermissions and many of the encores. The people who left the arena after the first encore, thinking the show was over and they would get an edge over others leaving the parking lot, missed a highly entertaining part of the evening. Here's hoping Mr. Cohen comes back to the GTA again in the near future. Certainly one of the very best entertainment evenings we've spent in a very long time and definitely well worth the price of admission!

Leonard Cohen - A Night to be Remembered

by JRBAcct on 2009-07-12National Arts Centre - Ottawa

One cannot begin to express the experience that one attains in attending a LC concert - especially knowing that this was most likely the last time we will see the master in person in this fine city of Ottawa.

One of the best concerts I've seen in my life

by Someone on 2009-07-12Copps Coliseum - Hamilton

This is one the best concerts I've seen in my life: The musicians sounded amazing, the atmosphere was prefect and it felt like the arena was full of love and appreciation of music, poetry and beauty in general. Leonard Cohen himself turned out to be a better singer than I expected, and I cannot even find the words to describe his stage presence and charisma. This was definitely an unforgettable evening, and I would recommend anyone who enjoys music to go see this show.

    Cohen was everything I expected

by mtrottier on 2009-07-12National Arts Centre - Ottawa

A brilliant performance, Cohen was mesmerizing. He's humble, sharing the limelight with his excellent band and vocal backups. It's not often you get to see such a great musician and poet perform for three straight hours... of course the National Arts Centre was the perfect venue.. had he played in a large "arena", I'm not sure I would have bought tickets... Well worth the money...

    A religious experience

by tinflute on 2009-07-11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Leonard Cohen's performance is incomparable. If you have any appreciation for his music, you will love this show. The ticket price is steep, but he really goes the distance, playing for two and a half hours, maybe more.

    The Greatest....

by Rene19 on 2009-07-11Radio City Music Hall - New York

Mr. Cohen show at Radio City was perfection as it doesn't happen often during the lifetime of concert "goer". I think you have to be 75 years old to be able to deliver something that precise, perfect and generous. Everything was in it's place, nothing overdue, not a wrong note... if their is a saint in music, Mr. Cohen is as close as it gets to be one. Thank you again and can,t wait for the tour when he's 80. Mr. Cohen is like wine aging... but better.

Sharing the roof with this legendary poet is enough to make any evening unforgettable. Hearing him sing for three hours at this beautiful venue is everything you could wish for.
