Almost Faultless -Faulty Towers Dining Exoerience

by CASBABY on 2015-03-17Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Still not sure whether the barely edible food was part of the "Experience" but it was bordering on awful. The actors were spot in their portrayal of the Characters. Accents, mannerisms intonation and script . They didn't drop their characters even during the unscripted bits. The "fuming experience" is difficult concept to master as it necessarily involves a dragged out service of every individual. So the start was slow but anticipatory. In actual fact the room was too large with too many diners so that one wasn't able to enjoy all the action taking part at other tables. We wondered if there was a copyright issue over using the Faulty towers theme tune which would've been nice to have upon entrance to the venue or been during the show.

A lot of laughs. It was just like the old show with Basil and Manuel.

    Faulty Towers

by blackcountrywench on 2015-03-10Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

I was at an evening performance with my adult daughter anf 2 friends. The interactive comedy was well done. The actor playing Basil got the voice and mannerisms spot on. The tables were laid with cutlery that was incorrect and the food was served hap hasidly however we realized it was all part of the show. As I had seen the TV series many times we knew exactly what to expect. The physical comedy was funny and eveveryone seemed to enjoy the whole dining experience.

    Terrible!

by CARCARCAR on 2015-03-10Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

There were some funny parts but overall it was a bit boring. Not enough interaction with the number of people there. Actors were good but script wasn't great. The food was horrible. Bad rubber chicken, gross soup and crusty cake. tasted stale. i would not recommend this at all.

The Faulty Faulty Towers Dinner Experience

by purdyfine on 2015-03-10Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Conceptually, this event had the makings of a supremely funny experience. However, the venue failed to deliver on numerous fronts. The room used for the event was like a storage room in the bowels of the Sony Centre, with no attempt made to "stage" the area and at least create the illusion of being in a hotel restaurant. The food was beyond bad, and though there was no promise of anything but standard fare, there was no excuse to be serving stale cake that looked like it was left over from the previous day's show. on the positive side, the actors who played the characters of Basil, Sybil and Manuel were superb - dead ringers for the original actors and very, very funny. However, they needed to be equipped with wireless microphones so that they could be heard talking at tables across the room. With about 130 guests (way too many for such an event), it was not possible to hear some of the humorous exchanges taking place in other areas of the room, and that left patrons sitting at tables waiting for something to happen or trying to make conversation with other guests. In short, $150 a head was way too much money for this experience.

    Fawlty Towers Dining Experience Hilarious!

by Kittykeesha on 2015-03-04Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

What a great show!! We haven't laughed so much in a long time!! The 3 characters portrayed the TV characters to a "T"!! The audience interaction was wonderful and certainly added to our enjoyment! And the references to local landmarks/communities made it unique. The meal was ok (chicken was a bit dry and the grilled veggies a bit overdone, the mashed potatoes were tasty) The tables are a bit close together, especially with the play taking part between the tables, but it worked.

Fun to re-live Fawlty Towers scenes

by Anonymous on 2015-03-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Our family of four had a great time, laughed out loud at antics. Fun to see scenes from the series retold. Actors were all very good, and Manuel was spot on.

    A wonderful afternoon of entertainment

by MrsE on 2015-03-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Took my mum to this show for her birthday. We both had a fantastic time. Room was smaller than I had expected, which was perfect. Kept the show nice an intimate. The actors were fantastic and came by all the tables. They managed to incorporate many classic moments from the Tv show. A must for any fan! I would definitely go back in a heartbeat :)

    Hilarious!

by Torri on 2015-03-03Sony Centre For The Performing Arts - Toronto

Wonderfully silly slapstick humour. The Faulty Tower characters were brought to life during this most enjoyable dinner theatre performance. The food was alright, but made fun by having the characters perform during the service and meal.

Waited too long in the lounge for the show to start...over an hour. Food was poor. Didn't seem like enough entertainment.

worst theatre and meal experience - all in one

by Tapawingo on 2015-03-01Sony Center - Toronto

I was so excited to go see Faulty Towers but I have to say I've never had a worse meal or a worse theatre experience in my life. We now have our new low. We sat around the bar area for 30 minutes before anything happened ... and then we were ushered into the so called dining room - which wasn't decorated up at all...and then we waited and waited for things to happen .... but it seemed to me that the actors were really only acting for about 30% of the entire evening ... the rest of the time you were trying to make chit chat with the other strangers at the table... luckily the strangers were nice... but overall a real disappointment.

    Faulty Towers was funny

by novemberfifteen on 2013-11-18National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

We were only vaguely familiar with the original series Faulty Towers. This was in no way a hinderance to an enjoyable evening. The cast were great and very interactive with the audience.

    Faulty towers was very funny!

by Cruisfan on 2013-11-17National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts - Ottawa

Great show. Lots of laughs. Felt good to escape from reality for a little while and just have fun. The actors were fabulous. One felt like you really were in Faulty Towers getting served a meal by this crazy group of people. Manuel was frantic and even looked like the real one, Sybil was wonderfully superior and imperious and Basil was very good, it being hard to be John Cleese. Only negative comment was around the timing of the meal. It was quite late , 9ish, before the main course was serve. Perhaps appetizers early on would have been good while we waited to be seated. .
