    Flashdance was dreadful

by trwo on 2014-11-26Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

You know how some books should never be made into movies? The same can be said for 80's movies and musicals. Flashdance was a huge disappointment. It was poorly written, badly acted, and the singing......ouch! Maybe because it was the last day of the run in calgary and they were tired? The only bright spots were when the chorus performed. They appeared to have dance training and some energy. For $127 I expected much more. Skip this one, stay home and watch the movie.

great entertainment and well worth it

by mammmm on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The newspapers gave it awful reviews so I was not expecting much....they were SO wrong! This was a great afternoon's entertainment and so worth it. The dancers were incredible....you could see they were having fun even tho they were working so hard...non stop go go go. The music was great and the vocals were good, well sung and easily heard. It wasn't the absolute best musical I have ever seen but it was up there as being one that was most enjoyable and well worth the money spent....

    Not as exciting

by Golgol on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The play was not as passionate and exciting as the movie. The actor playing Alex was a bit amateur and not reflecting much passion.

It's not meant to be a musical

by TheatreBuds on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Not all movies with dancing are meant to be musicals. This is one of them. The dancers were not all great dancers and for the cost of the tickets I would save my money for something that has proven itself on Broadway. Some of the moments were pretty cheesey.

    Flashdance was enjoyable

by LOWRIDERS on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Flash dance was an enjoyable show but with the plot following the movie it left us comparing this show to the original movie. This comparison although unfair to the live show left us somewhat disappointed at times. That aside the the cast did a great job of presenting this high energy dance musical and entertained us throughout the show. well done to all cast members.

    Flashdance wasn't so flash

by AlexFlash on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The actors/dancers were good - just not as great as I was hoping. For the price of the tickets the show was ok but I wouldn't recommend it to others.

    Sleepy time for all

by Marlene28 on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

For the amount of money we paid for our tickets it was so not worth it. The show was boring honestly was trying to keep myself from falling aaleep. Went with six other ladies and we all couldn't wait for it to be over. The sound was horrible you couldn't make out what they were singing. It was just a huge disappointment. You could tell the cast were tired.

    Flashdance was ok.

by Bygone on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Most would remember this play based upon our recollections of the movie from our distant past. This rendition of said play lacked the quality of dance that may have been hoped for by many of us. I was made to wonder if it is difficult to have the main lead be able to both sing and dance with the quality and energy one may have hoped for. The performance was average so, bye bye it's gone.

    Weakest Broadway show ever!

by Supercop on 2014-11-25Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

We were very disappointed in the show across the board. I believe the main female character was weak. The singing in the show for the most part was mediocre and the stripper pole and strippers all over constantly didn't make for a kid friendly show even though there is no age restrictions here at all. Lovely role models for young girls in the theatre, could you not at least warn people of when purchasing tickets. I have seen many broadway plays and support theatre in our city constantly. I not one to write bad reviews but I can't say more so, this musical is a miss. Save your money for the next one that comes to town as the quality here is not Broadway at all. On a positive note the venue is one of my favorites and the staff there went above and beyond for me when accidentally showing up with the wrong days tickets.

    What a Feeling!

Flashdance was super! The leads were incredible especially "Nick". The stage production was well-written and creative. I was sad when it ended!

The production is "Flashdance" however I expected to see more "dancing". The sound quality at the beginning of the performance was off but appeared to be corrected as the show went on.

    Flashdance had bad sound

by mistydog on 2014-11-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Really hard to understand how tinny sounding the singing was......especially at the Jubilee which is known for its sound quality. Dancing was good....

    FLASH-DANCE sucked

by Baldbear on 2014-11-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

The lighting/set was dark, dark concerning the atmosphere the set created. The water scene was pathetic in the amount of water that was used for the scene. I found the vocals flat and the music did not carry the songs to their true brilliance. Best described at warm oatmeal at breakfast(no sugar, no fruit)

    Flashdance

by Nootkanat on 2014-11-24Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium - Calgary

Great show but definitely not a general admission. My 9 year old daughter was a little surprise of the pole dancing etc. I wish it would have said 14+ or event in the trailer we would have seen it when watching the previews. Thank you kindly. Nathalie

We were really disappointed that there was not more of the music from the 80's. Only three songs...I Love Rock N Roll, Gloria and What a Feeling. The rest of the songs all sounded the same and I guess they went along with the storyline.
