I have been a Fleetwood Mac fan for over forty years, but this was my first chance to see them live. I have seen them on music videos, but a live concert is different. No warm up distractions, a little late in starting, but on with the main attraction. These guys and gals are just phenomenal. The energy was just explosive. They may not list Lindsay, as a great guitarist, or Mick as a great drummer, but in my eyes they are one of the best. I gauge guitarists, by Knopfler, Clapton,Santana,Govi, all distinctive, with their own style. Mick was like a six year old, never tiring and and on beat, sometimes like an earthquake. Stevie was , as she was twenty years ago. Her vocals were spot on and emotional as ever. Christine had some shaky moments in the beginning, but came on strong later on. The old group, whole again, was magical. For all you critics out there, and I've read some, in the Vancouver papers. I defy you to compare any of the newbies now strutting on concert stages, to show this much continuous energy, for two and a quarter hours , without a brake. And this from a bunch of SENIORS! Lindsey, the kid at 64 and Christine, the elder, at 71. This may have been their last hoorah, but I was there and it felt like, this would have been, a concert twenty years ago. I could have stayed all night, if it would have been humanly possible for them to keep playing with the same energy and soul. They bared their soul and brought us all into their life and were able to feel the regrets and pain, that a close group of artists goes through in a lifetime of chasing their dreams. For now, I just close my eyes and put on my favourite album, and pretend I'm back at Rogers Arena, for maybe it was a once in a lifetime experience, at least with this group. None of us are getting younger and this world, as Mick said, is crazy and getting worse daily. Let's cherish moments like this, where no terrorist, nor crooked politician, can intrude on our moment of musical bliss.
