Rating: 4 out of 5Foghat as great as they ever were
by Wileyblues on 2012-07-05McPhillips Station Casino - WinnipegFoghat were always one of my favourite bands right from the start, in fact even before the start when the founders were members of Savoy Brown. This is the second time I have seen them in the past coupleof years and the quality of the performances were outstanding. The McPhillips Street Station concert focused on the classic Foghat hits which were all done very well. The band's rhythm section dates back to the early days with founding drummer and long time bassist. The original guitarists are both long deceased but the "new guys" are more than adequate and fit in so well you would never know they hadn't been with the band all along.
The only negative I took from the evening was that they played no songs from their excellent 2010 release "Last Train Home" which was unfortunate for me as it has fast become one of my go to albums. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars for me.
Foghat is one of the most capable and likeable blues-rock bands around and between the rock steady driving beat and the searing dual guitars I thouroughly enjoyed them.
