franklin was mediocre in mediaeval land!

by suezy on 2010-04-26The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

the two mice characters didn't blend well with the rest of the cast - mainly costumes - the girl mouse wore running shoes and their green silk garb seemed out of sink with the rest of the fury animals.

Franklin was a great kid performance

by Yukoner on 2010-04-22The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

It was a bit loud but all in all the performance was good. It would have been nice if they had a period at the end so the children could meet the characters as well. The interaction with the crowd was good but could have been more.

Franklin show at Centre for Performing Arts

by Anonymous on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The show was good, but seemed to be geared towards the older preschoolers and not the younger ones like the show. Also the kids didn't really like the extra characters (speaker and mice) added to the show. Parents feel that a 20 minute intermission is too long - the kids were wanting to go home thinking the show was over. Went with two kids ages 2 1/2 - 3.

    Frankilin is cute!

by Chrysdux on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My boyfriend and I took our 4 year old boy for the first time to the theatre, and we liked it! It was a bit noisy because there were a lot of babies crying here and there, and a lot of people moving around but the adaptation was good, characters looked real, the audience was not often solicitated but gave a good response. The only thing I think I found negative was the number of songs in the second part when kids were no longer concentrated: it was too much and a bit of interaction with the children might be a better idea to get their attention back. Overall we spend a good time, my son was expecting a sticker from Franklin on his way out, this could be a plus for next time!

Franklin and the Adventures of the Noble Knights

by HappyMomOfTwo on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Because it was based on one of the episodes, it was most interesting for my children to see a live performance. The 2 mice were a superb addition. It was nice how the children audience were involved with the story too.

    Great story of working together!

by Tamster09 on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My almost three year old son is a huge Franklin fan especially loves the Here Comes Franklin song ! (could have sang that again!) I was worried the story line would be too complicated for him but he seems to have taken it all in and is recounting the whole story! My only two criticisms/suggestions are that the bird that "stole" the necklace was a bit scary for the younger kids and you could hear the scared gasp through the audience when the bird first came out (my little guy had to cover his eyes at first! lol!) and secondly given the show is aimed at toddlers and most up to around 3 1/3 years still nap mid day it would have been good to have the first show earlier as we were pushing the window of awakeness after the 20 minute intermission and then the last half. My cousin's two year old son was getting cranky and they had to leave at intermission. Otherwise.. my son loved it!

    Brave and Shiny Knight

by BugTuss on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My 4.5 year old son loved the show. He likes Franklin (has all his books) and is really into Knights, swords and shields right now so this was perfect. He really likes musicals and loved singing along. Near the end of the show he ran up to the front and sang along. Two thumbs up from a 4.5 year old!

    Good for Treehouse kids

by Pifany on 2010-04-19The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Overall it was good, however the staging could have had more to it. More colour, more props, that kind of thing. The kids seemed to like it and the story line was simple enough for the very young to understand. The length of the production was also good, since holding children's attention for longer periods would be a problem. My grandson liked it a lot - so that's all that counts. However, the souvenir items (lights and t-shirts), is pure gouging!

    Franklin

by Jezza99 on 2010-04-18The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

We took our 4 year old nephew, he really liked it but his attention wandered from time to time and we had to prod him with questions "who is that" "Where are they going", etc to get him back to the show. I thought they could have included a bit more interaction with the kids, little things like asking the kids if they saw where a character went while he was hiding in the background or something like that. I though overall it was worth it but not as good as it could be for that age group.

Great Costumes and believable for my 4 year old

by lizkat on 2010-04-18The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

My 4 year old enjoyed the play (her 1st). We were hoping for more of a stage design to wow her, as it somewhat confused her as to what was happening. The mice were VERY hard to listen to as the sound system made their voices very screechy and my daughter would cover her ears every time they spoke. She wanted to leave until Franklin and the rest of the characters appeared. She did enjoy the show overall so I feel it was worth the price of the ticket.

    Amateur

by kristo on 2010-04-18The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

Overall this was a very "high school drama class" performance. The sound quality was terrible. It started off way too loud and shrill and my three year old was complaining that her ears were hurting. (so were mine!) The only thing that saved this show was the fact that it was Franklin. Some of the other characters just didn't look right.... and the bird freaked out the kids a bit too much. But my daughter was happy to see Franklin, so it wasn't a total loss.

    Franklin was cute

by mont on 2010-04-18The Centre In Vancouver For Performing Arts - Vancouver

The franklin show was good. But I would take kids age 3-5. The older kids seemed uninterested and the younger ones didn"t get the story or riddles. It would have been much better if it was louder. It was hard to hear and we were in the orcherestra level. Too many songs that were slow and not lively, the kids were getting restless. Need more fun songs.
