About

fun.'s chart-topping indie pop anthem "We Are Young" was everywhere in 2012, earning the band overnight success and one of music's highest honors: Best New Artist at the 2013 Grammy Awards. The song took home the Grammy for Song of the Year, and, along with anthemic hits like "Carry On" and "Some Nights," propelled the band's 2012 sophomore album Some Nights to the No. 1 position on both the Rock and Alternative Albums charts. Lead singer Nate Ruess formed fun. in 2008 following the breakup of his band The Format, teaming up with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost to write and record the band's demos. The trio's first single "At Least I'm Not as Sad As I Used to Be" came out in April 2009, quickly followed by the release of their debut album Aim and Ignite, which received praise for its progressive and theatrical pop sound. After opening for Paramore on their 2010 tour, fun. headlined their own U.K. tour before returning to the studio to record their sophomore album. The result, 2012's Some Nights, peaked at No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200, garnering critical praise and spawning platinum-selling smash singles "We Are Young" and the album's title track. On tour in 2013 with Tegan and Sara, the band treated ticket buyers to energetic live concerts of both old and new material, building anticipation for the release of their third studio album in 2014.

I was so excited to see Fun as they are my favorite band, but there was no information on any of the opening bands other then tegan and sara. I arrived way before the 4 o'clock doors open, only to find out the first bands not on till 5:30 and fun wasnt playing till 9:30. Little more information next time

    fun. with Tegan and Sara

by rachelmor on 2013-07-11Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

This concert was the best one I've ever been to, hands down. The two opening acts were relatively unknown to most of the audience, but both were very impressive and I enjoyed their sound. Tegan and Sara came on first, and while I knew very few of their songs, the set was amazing and the two of them interacted with the crowd really well. The high point of the night, of course, was when fun. took the stage and put on amazing show. They did songs from both Some Nights and Aim and Ignite which was fantastic, they told a few funny stories and just put on an overall unbelievable show!

    Amazing Concert

by Nothgual on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

Start times were reasonably well respected. Pyrotechnics were cool. Minimum wait times. The band "Diana" did not seem to fit in with the rest of the bands. Great time.

Went to this concert because I like the unique sound of fun. Now having seen them in action, I love fun. Very seldom do I go to a concert liking the 'popular' songs and end up loving the whole repetoire! Go see fun. if you can!!!

Opening bands were great! all had very good live performances! The feeling you got and the atmosphere in the air once fun came on stage was magical! You could see the amazement and the accomplishment feeling on Nate's face as he was performing: He made it-and it feels GOOD!

Fun was amazing! Great performers. The venue was terrible. The grounds need to be kept better for future shows.

    decent concert poor venue

by mojave3 on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

Enjoyable concert. Tegan and Sara were excellent and played a wide selection of their catalogue. Very fun. fun. are a decent and very entertaining band. Opening act Diana very boring and other openers Family of the Year were alright. Venue not my favourite. About a 2mile walk from parking to the "meadow" which was covered in mud. I had purchased a VIP ticket so did have seating and some grassy area but it was far from the stage and still not a great place to view the event from. All you could smell was grease from the food vendors, mixed with B.O. and the damp water smell from the mud. Not the most pleasant. I would have recommended a venue such as Molson Amphitheatre for an outdoor event such as this.

    Opening Concert - Fun & Tegan+Sara

by dmfan519 on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

What a great way to start Summer outdoors than with bands that are entertaining, modest and thankful. Tegan and Sara thanked fans after every song and Fun were no exception. Both had a way of drawing you in and you could see they were loving it as much as the crowd was. Outdoor concerts are the best - no echo and healthier. Clear sound, good civilized crowd, great music and great fireworks at the end. Awesome concert.

Excellent sound and entertainment factor was over the top. Exceeded our expectations. The upgrade to VIP was worth the cost.

    What a FUN. Concert!!

by JollyK on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

This concert was so good. 4 bands played, Diana (They were okay, however they didn't introduce themselves till 3 songs and acted like we all knew who they were), followed by Family of the Year (Never heard of them, but they were great. Good energy, catchy tunes) Then Tegan & Sara came up and played both old and new songs and were incredible. Both played instruments, sang, had great harmonies and told some funny/interesting anecdotes between songs. Their energy was great and the harmonizing they did was incredible considering they have such different voices. Once they left the stage everyone got up and was ready for the main event. Fun. surprised the crowd by being on stage without us knowing it and Nate carried a gold microphone. Nate is a ball full of energy who ran around the stage without missing a note. With a minor technical difficulty with his mic and a part where he forgot the words, which he admitted to the crowd and we all laughed, but honestly he was flawless. The band was great and all held up to their name, they were Fun. Also it was super touching to see how effected he was by the sheer number of us and how loud we cheered. Such a great show, strongly recommend and can't wait to see them when they return after their next album!

Fun. put on a great show!!

by steff56822 on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

This was my first time seeing Fun. in concert and I have to say, they are amazing live!! Such great energy! and the vocals were excellent!! Really great show. My only negative would have been the crowd being a little too mellow for the upbeat show that Fun. put on. Tegan and Sara were very good live as well!

    Fun. was fun

by pizazz on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

It was a longer wait for the band to come out, than I thought...4 pm on the ticket and they came out @ 9:30! The opening acts were 'poor'. Tegan and Sara were 'average' yet Canadian, eh! Fun. were 'amazing', they really got into the atmosphere of the event! I would go to see them again but not in a muddy field!

    Funtastical!!

by Zephyrkaye on 2013-07-10Downsview Park Allen Road - Toronto

This show was a big hit! We arrived late so we didn't get to see the first two bands play, but we did get to see Tegan and Sara as well as Fun. First things first, Downsview park is not my favourite venue. Definite issue when you have to treck 30 minutes to get to the actual venue from the parking area. Also the downside to a park venue is the chance it might rain hours before and then you are ankle deep in mud.... Which is kind of what happened. The acts made the mud worth it. Tegan and Sara were fantastic! And hilarious! I've never been to a concert where the word penis was said so many times, lol. I love the way they are onstage... So laid back and interactive. Definitely will see them again if they pass through the area again! Last but certainly not least... FUN. Holy crap. Nate is totally a showman of epic proportions!!!! This was hands down one of the best shows I've ever seen! I would recommend you take the chance to see them live if you can! It was unforgettable and a perfect close to pride week in Toronto. They even had a spectacular fireworks show, which I wasn't sure it was happening because this was the first show on their tour, or because the date of the show was significant as it coincided with the end of pride week... But whatever, the display was freaking awesome! Overall, fantastic acts, great time, even if it was muddy. Take the chance to see both fun and Tegan and Sara if you can! You will love it!
