G. LOVE & SPECIAL SAUCE IN CONCERT:

For more than two decades, Philadelphia-based trio G. Love & Special Sauce has been serving up funky, high-energy live shows that never fail to get concertgoers on their feet. The band’s supreme chops are evident every time they hit the stage, wowing crowds with dynamic, dazzling performances of fan favorite jams like "Baby's Got Sauce", "Cold Beverage", and "Peace, Love and Happiness". Frontman G. Love’s laid-back vocals are perfectly augmented by the heavy, reggae-inspired grooves conjured by drummer Jeffrey Clemens and upright bassist James Prescott, who returned to the band in 2014 after a five-year absence. Riding high off the success of their 2014 album Sugar, the original trio is back, better than ever, and ready to deliver soulful live performances for their eager fans.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

G. Love, aka Garrett Dutton, grew up in Philadelphia and spent his teenage years as a street performer who blended bluesy guitar with freestyle rap. In the early '90s he moved to Boston and met drummer Jeffrey Clemens and upright bassist James Prescott. Inspired by everyone from John Lee Hooker and Bob Dylan to Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest, the trio made a name for themselves playing in Boston bars before releasing their self-titled debut album (featuring the MTV-approved single "Cold Beverage") in 1994. They followed up with 1995's Coast to Coast and then took a short hiatus due to disagreements within the band before making a triumphant return with 1997's Yeah, It's That Easy and 1999's Philadelphonic, which topped Billboard's Heatseekers chart. After three more albums, several festival gigs, and extensive worldwide tours, they disbanded in 2009 and reemerged five years later with 2014's Sugar. Featuring collaborations with artists including Ben Harper and Marc Broussard, Sugar has quickly become a new fan favorite album.
