Colbie was awesome as always!
by itsjustme on 2013-04-02Avalon Ballroom Theatre - Niagara FallsRating: 5 out of 5The last time we saw Colbie was in 2009 in Toronto. It's been a really long time since we've seen her live, but we finally got an opportunity to see her at the Avalon Ballroom and all I have to say is WOW! The girl was really good in 2009, but you could see a change in her from 3 years ago. She's grown a lot since Coco and Breakthrough were released and you could tell that she is really comfortable on stage and enjoys performing. She is definitely in her element and even spoke about the inspiration behind each song. Keep it up girl! She's awesome live! Not sure why she's not even more popular than she already is, but that is fine because we love her playing smaller venues.
She sang a good sample of songs from Coco, Breakthrough, and All of You. Loved the mash up of I Never Told You and Doo Wop (That Thing). In addition to her current repertoire, she sang 3 new songs that will be on her new album coming this fall. I cannot wait until it is released. The last song she sang was Brighter Than the Sun and she was able to get most of the audience out of their seat and dancing with her. Loved the set. It felt very welcoming and homey.
This girl can put on a great show no matter what. This girl has raw talent and is the real deal!
Loved the venue at the Avalon Ballroom Theatre as there were seats and no one was blocking our view and it was 19+ concert. We wished they didn't give away so many tickets to those that get comps at the casino. We were definitely one of the younger people in the crowd (we are around Colbie's age) and I'm not sure they appreciate the talent as much as we do. Not going to lie, but when assessing the crowd, we were like do these people even know who Colbie is? Even the young people sitting beside us didn't really know much about her and they were saying they got their tickets from their parents who got those from the casino. It was a bit frustrating, especially since we went online to buy the tickets as soon as they were released. Most of the seats were reserved for those that gamble at the casino - which clearly is not us! as we normally do not go to Niagara Falls on a regular basis.
Hope she returns to Toronto/Niagara Falls again for the tour of her new album because we're ready to go again :)
