About

GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:

Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew,  keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.

  • Kee to Bala | Glass Tiger

Incredible concert! Glass Tiger was fantastic live. The Kee to Bala is a really fun & intimate venue to watch music. My only critique is the lack of cool air circulation in the VIP section upstairs. It was so hot we ended up downstairs to watch most of the concert. Think twice when buying VIP tickets unless you bring a portable fan or wear a bathing suit!

They still have it. Great sound at The Kee. Not overwhelmingly loud. Drinks are pricey but thats expected when going out.

  • Nostalgic evening out

by BexxD on 2025-08-25The KEE to Bala - BalaRating: 4 out of 5

Glass tiger the band was awesome. Sang all the classics and still look and sound good. The crowd was right into it which was good to see. It was my first time to the kee which is actually a great venue. It was super hot but whatever, however the one thing that prevents me from giving the evening a 5 star is that I paid for the vip area but there was not really control of that so people kept trying to sneak into the area. Because I paid for the vip experience, my expectations are that only those who paid will reap the benefits. After speaking to security twice they did close the door and it seemed to keep people out from then on. Otherwise I really enjoyed the night and the venue.

Everything went smoothly and this was the most enjoyable concert ever. The event center is just the right size, so you get to see everything clearly...and no steep stairs cases!+++ Also sound system was excellent!!! Lots of servers at the bar so No line ups. Couldn't ask for better! Looking forward to our next concert at Club Regent!

I enjoyed the concert very much. Glass Tiger was amazing. A bit weird having a DJ open for them, but he played good music. A great night.

Alan Frew's voice is still unique and strong. Good to see a band from my old town.

A pop rock group I love to listen on my college days back home (Philippines). First time watching it live here in Winnipeg and it’s a true wonderful experience. And got more excited as I learned that they were a Canadian group. Hooray!!!

  • GT touring again

by Solo on 2025-04-15Club Regent Event Centre - WinnipegRating: 5 out of 5

I was thrilled that Glass Tiger was coming to the Regent Casino Event Centre. I haven't seen GT in many decades. I would come home after school and video hits were playing their top songs. I couldn't believe I was on the 2nd role seats after the pit. A fantastic upclose, unobstructed view. But really the venue architecture forgot people have arms, those seats are like a baby chair for adults. Do the chest flex while only one can get that arm rest and worst if there's a cups on the rest. The band played all the hits and some new and folks songs. I sang,I took my camera, and applauded. I got a merch CD,thanks for the memories and looking forward to listening it.

  • Awesome and nostalgic!

Alan Frew has still got it! Played lots of classics, lots of interaction with the crowd and sounded fantastic. Slightly annoying that the email told us to arrive 45 minutes early when we could have been 45 minutes late and not missed anything.
