About

GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:

Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew,  keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.

    Glass Tiger was amazing

Haven't seen Glass Tiger in concert in a while. Seeing them at Rama on Saturday night brought back so many memories of past concerts. It felt like I last saw them live only a couple of years ago. Love this band. To use one of their song titles definitely "won't forget them when they are gone". They will never be gone. Love the music, love the show. Thank you Alan Frew and boys.

All in all, the show was very good. I was more impressed by Glass Tiger due to their type of music. April Wine started slowly and then picked it up but they did not have the same customer appeal. The negative point was the delay of 15 minutes between Glass Tiger and April Wine was in fact 30 minutes and so many people left early from the April Wine performance.

    Glass Tiger was excellent

by familyouting on 2011-08-22Casino Rama - Orillia

The opening band of Code Blue did a fantastic job for a group of doctors. Glass Tiger was a blast fromthe past. They still have what it takes to put on a great show. April Wine, we would not see again. The instruments were way too loud which overpowered the vocals, therefore theywere barely audible. The guitar riff's were far too many and far too long. After about the third song we were ready to get up and leave. Finally the stage presentation for April Wine was far less classy then that of Code Blue and Glass Tiger

    RVH Radio for Radiology

    by Joanne56 on 2011-08-22Casino Rama - Orillia

The opening group Code Blue which is comprised of RVH workers, and my son's doctor when he broke his hand, Dr. Delaney very good. Great sound, great vocals. Glass Tiger great and I remembered all the songs. Alan Frew was a highschool classmate, and seeing him up there singing years later was nostalgic. I saw him in 1988 in Newmarket with my neice. The highlight for me was April Wine as it brought back so many 70's memories and Miles can still play the guitar just as he did back in the 70's. Their opening song Say Hello is one of my absolute favourites.

    Great show!

by Greg on 2011-06-09McPhillips Station Casino - Winnipeg

We caught the first of two shows that Glass Tiger performed at the casino on Thursday and Friday nights. The band sounded great. They have been around for twenty-five years. Played all their hits. Would go to see them again. After the show the band members were out selling merchandise and autographing fan's albums, cassettes and CDs.

    Glass Tiger was awesome!

by Budha on 2011-06-06McPhillips Station Casino - Winnipeg

Picked up the tickets at the casino without any troubles at all. However, once we entered the main hall, there was no clear direction on where we were supposed to go. The woman who provided my tickets mentioned something about going upstairs, which is where I thought our seats were. After speaking to the bartender upstairs, he informed us that the concert was on the main level behind the big black curtain. It made sense, but having never been to a concert in the casino before, this was new to me. Turns out that the curtain area didn't open until 7:30; something that would have been good to know. We ended up among the first to be seated. The concert area filled up fairly quickly. When we asked our server about food options, she said there was no food. This contradicted what we were told earlier. In fact, we given $1 off coupons for some food item (I forget what it was). The show started on schedule and was awesome. I heard all my favorite songs from back in the day. It lasted a couple of hours and we enjoyed every minute of it.
