About

GLASS TIGER IN CONCERT:

Canadian rockers Glass Tiger are a fierce five-piece band that's been hammering out the hits since 1986, and they sound as fresh as ever nearly 30 years later. Lead singer Alan Frew still knows how to command the stage with his sharp, impeccable vocals and rich guitar strumming while his bandmates shred out solos on hits like "Someday" and "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)". With their popular alt-rock tunes and on-point musicianship, Glass Tiger always brings the house down when they perform for eager ticket buyers on their can't-miss tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

The members of Glass Tiger – singer Alan Frew,  keyboard player Sam Reid, guitarist Al Connelly, bassist Wayne Parker, and drummer Michael Hanson – first got together in 1983 and performed under the name Tokyo. They earned their big break a year later playing for sold-out crowds as an opening act for Boy George and Culture Club on tour. They attracted attention from several labels at the shows, eventually signing to Capitol Records and changing their name to the current moniker. They earned widespread acclaim with their four-times platinum-selling debut Thin Red Line, which featured the smash hit "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" – a song that peaked at No. 1 on the Canadian Songs chart, earned the band three Juno Awards, and launched them to international stardom. Glass Tiger continued to enjoy success with their follow-up releases Diamond Sun (1988) and Simple Mission (1991), which they supported with extensive touring throughout their native Canada. After a hiatus that saw the band's members pursue various other projects, the group got back together in 2003 to perform local shows. Although the band has had a lineup change since reforming with new drummer Chris McNeill, Glass Tiger still knows how to rock a crowd and deliver a hit-filled live show.

    Canadian 80's Flashback in NY

by Tammyrey20 on 2014-05-25The Seneca Niagara Events Center at Seneca Niagara Casino - Niagara Falls

A girlfriend and I were heading to Buffalo for a girls weekend to shop, when we found out that 2 Canadian bands were going to be playing together at Seneca Niagara Casino. Neither band disappointed me. Platinum Blonde's set was WAYYYYYY too short, but they looked and sounded just as good as I remember from my teen years seeing them either at Ontario Place or Kingswood in the Toronto, Ontario area. The guys in Tiger put on a great show as well. I would have loved to hear one or two of the more lesser known songs (IE After the Dance is Over, or the B side Do you wanna dance). It was a LITTLE frustrating when people behind us were yanking on shirts for people to sit down. HELLOOOO, you are at a concert, deal with it!! I would definitely go see either bad again!!

I hadn't heard anything about Glass Tiger for many years and went to the concert with no expectations at all. I would rate this concert as one of my all time favorites. They sounded absolutely amazing and Alan Frew was incredibly funny and entertaining. Phenomenal performance!

Just like when I was young

by quwicken on 2013-07-10Deerfoot Inn & Casino - Calgary

These guys do not change, their voices are the same I was transported back to my youth...awesome concert. Only problem was the venue. sitting in the back I could not see the stage very well. As well the sound system was not the best it could be. I have heard these guys before and all was so clear, in the smaller room, well it was a tad distorted and hurt the ears a bit.

Gass Tiger 'Rocked' Rock The Peach Festival

    by Python46 on 2012-09-22Kings Park - Penticton, B.C. Canada July 29, 2012

I was privileged to see most of the artists at this year's 'Rock The Peach' Festival in Penticton B.C. This JULY 27-29 2012. Glass Tiger was the most emotional groups to perform for me. I am a Canadian Navy Veteran and Glass Tiger was a very supportive group of the military in the 1980's. Their song ''The Red Line" exemplifies the courage and dedication of all military volunteers in the history of Canadian Military actions throughout history ! Alan Frew and Glass Tiger was magnificent ! Their music is again timeless. The Thin Red Line will be a timeless hit for all ! Their dedication to the music they created for us in the 1980's and beyond is just the validation we need to confirm their loyalty too the fans as we dedicate our loyalty to Glass Tiger. Alan Joked how Rod Stewart didn't call anymore. Their hit ' My Town ' is fantastic. Glass Tiger 'Rocks' . I was Stationed In Halifax, Nova Scotia. HMS Athabaskan. Take Me Back To My Scotia ! I was in Tears ! Alan We had our moment ! Thank -You. For King and Country ! Glass Tiger you are A Canadian Treasure ! Thank-you Guys. Have an awesome tour ! Vancouver, Victoria to Halifax. Keep On Rocking !!!

    April Wine still rocks

by wally on 2011-10-12Casino Rama - Orillia

The concert was great and it lasted for a long time, unlike some other concerts that we have attended. I was happy to have helped out some way to a benefit concert show. The sound was good. The tickets were a birthday gift for my husband as he is a big big April Wine fan. All in all, the night was very enjoyable.

    Not what i expected!!!

    by 1MIKEY on 2011-09-13Casino Rama - Orillia

Both bands filled up their time slots with an excess of B side tunes. The acoustics in the building were horrible... The sound system was out of control and due to the unprofessional use of the sound and mixing equipment and massive amount of re-verb from the ill placed speakers, caused at least 50 people to get up and leave during the performance. If not for the fact that is was a benefit show for what i thought to be for one charity (But turned out to be two),,,,I would say that it was a waste of good money and travel time involved to get to it. In many cases there are reasons for retirement, and this is one of them.!!

Code Blue; Glass Tiger; April Wine

by Cinbad on 2011-08-24Casino Rama - Orillia

AWESOME! AWESOME! & AWESOME!!! Didn't realize my review could be too short, so I suppose I'll have to add a few choice words to my review. Amazing display of talent... Amazing stage presence... Amazing "reflective" acknowledges, from both Glass Tiger & April Wine... A little grayer then I remembered from my last concert (April Wine), however their voices still amazed me & brought me back many years to my youth. Code Blue displayed talent above & beyond that of "Doctors" first, "musicians", second. All three groups were thoroughly entertaining &... AMAZING!!!

    Glass Tiger was amazing

by princessF on 2011-08-22Casino Rama - Orillia

Haven't seen Glass Tiger in concert in a while. Seeing them at Rama on Saturday night brought back so many memories of past concerts. It felt like I last saw them live only a couple of years ago. Love this band. To use one of their song titles definitely "won't forget them when they are gone". They will never be gone. Love the music, love the show. Thank you Alan Frew and boys.

All in all, the show was very good. I was more impressed by Glass Tiger due to their type of music. April Wine started slowly and then picked it up but they did not have the same customer appeal. The negative point was the delay of 15 minutes between Glass Tiger and April Wine was in fact 30 minutes and so many people left early from the April Wine performance.
