    Loved Gordon Lightfoot!

    by 5star on 2009-11-20Massey Hall - Toronto

My sister in-law and I loved Gordon's show. Wish i could of got a picturer of him I and our family travelling stuffed bear. Most of all I wish I woould of had a picture or something for my sister Kathleen. She was to come to the show with me but was rushed to the hospital Tuesday. ( Gordon's B-Day). Kathleen has a brain toumor. This Tuesday she has her operation. She was so sorry she could not go to the show. I was lucky I could. She was doing good and wanted me to go. I will be back to Mississauga on Tuesday to be with my sister.

    gordon lightfoot

by samdog on 2009-11-20Massey Hall - Toronto

Excellent concert in the old fashioned tradition of music presented as intended. His talent as a writer, poet and singer is excellent. We have listened to his music since the 70's and it still reverberates in our Canadian soul. Massey Hall acoustics were superb as always. The concert hall was too hot . Maybe using the air conditioning would have been appropriate.

    A Canadian Musical Legend

by GregR on 2009-11-20Massey Hall - Toronto

What can I say. He may have lost some of his voice over the years, but Gordon Lightfoot and his long time band never fail to deliver. It was a pleasure witnessing his latest venture to Massey Hall. Let's hope he keeps it up for many more years.

    Gordon still has it!

by KDAT on 2009-11-20Massey Hall - Toronto

The concert was absolutely fabulous. Gordon was great with the crowd. The acoustics at Massey Hall were great. My only beef was the seating up in the gallery level was not acceptable. Obviously the seats were made for a different size of generation. My husband could not sit in the seat we paid for because his legs were too crammed into the seat in front of him and he is an average 6 feet. I understand the notion that you get what you pay for but the dimensions of this seating is not even explained at purchasing time. We made the most of it, My husband stood in the back and I in my crammed chair, listening to one of Canada's legendary singer-songwriters.

    Still a great time

by MikefromLondon on 2009-11-20Massey Hall - Toronto

It's always great to see Gordon Lightfoot at Massey Hall. Unfortunately, on this first night there were a couple problems - the sound was nowhere near the previous performance in terms of audio quality, and I fully understand that he's not getting any younger, but it seems like someone messed up the EQing or there was some sort of mic troubles. Secondly, no steel guitar at all? Seems like a bit of a disappointment as I always found it an integral part to the song, and the regular guitar just doesn't do it. The set list was great, with most of the hits played, and if you've never seen him play live you owe it to yourself to see him while you still can.

Gordon Lightfoot in concert at Massey Hall

by Emira on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Great show. Well done. The time went by quickly. This is my first time seeing Gordon Lightfoot. Not too many artists can perform for an hour and forty minutes.

    Gordon Lightfoot

    by 1952 on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Gordon Lightfoot is deserving of the greatest respect as a songwriter, however, he can no longer perform. His diction is bad, his voice is gone and his band seems bored to death. Left at intermission it was so embarrassing and disappointing.

Birthday party for Gord and mike

    by bigmac52321 on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

It was great to be in a room with so many like-minded fans listening to music that we have enjoyed for so long. I love watching music being performed and the band was flawless--almost like a studio session but as with all singers when they get old or smoke the voice is barely there. The singing was dissapointing but on several songs he sounded great but the singing was poor.Have tickets for a second nite so can,t be all that bad!!

    Lightfoot is a Canadian Icon

by PikeR on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Gordon Lightfoot put on a stunning performance last nightat Massey Hall. The audience was so quiet and attentive, especially during the last half. It was very personal. Gord has a degree from Trent, and I know used to take canoe trips all through the north. I had the fortune of seeing his early performances at the Riverboat in Toronto. Ocasionally he could be seen at the Silver Rail on Yonge Street. In the early years I believe he jammed with Ian Tyson and had an apartment on University Ave. He is loved by his Canadian fans and has left us a legacy. I find him such a spiritual writer, and his work touches me to the core. Ths is written by Ron Pike's wife.

    gordon lightfoot massey hall

by brenee on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Very dissapointed. Combination of sound issues. Could not hear the first song. His voice appeared not what it was. Also no interaction with audience. It was like listening to a CD rather than the excitment of a live show. We left at the break period.

Gordon Lightfoot - amazing at 71

by MJTO on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

It took Gord a while to get going. He was clearly frustrated by having to start late because of the closure of the subway. By the second act he was in fine form. Keep perfoming and I'll keep coming!!!

    Gordie was great!

by Beppo on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Just what I expected. Great concert. All the old familiar favourites and others I hadn't heard before. His voice ain't what it used to be but he's still well worth seeing. Two hours of just Gord.

Gordon Lightfoot still going after all these years

by Harrycat on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

I'm looking forward to next year's performance. Had terrible seats this time. It would have been worth spending the money to sit near the stage.

Gordon Lightfoot voice not in top shape

by emiderek on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

Music was perfect - band never missed a note - lyrics are unforgettable. Gordon Lightfoot (GL) is a Canadian treasure to be sure - BUT - after seeing GL at Massey Hall (8 times over last 22 years) - I must admit his voice is not what it used to be - I remember much more power and energy from his voice in live performance - advanced age is obvious culprit. Nevertheless, good to see GL doing his thing and enjoyed the memories - I would hesitate to recommend this concert to anyone unless thay are a real GL fan.

    Gord is Gold

by Canoemarg on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

A well chosen set of classics. In addition to the incomparable poetry, he has a wonderful, gentlemanly, professional presence. I didn't want it to end.

    Gordon Lightfoot-Still a good show!!

by parrecs on 2009-11-19Massey Hall - Toronto

I hadn't seen Lightfoot for many years, but was not disappointed. While his voice isn't what it used to be, he puts on an excellent show, playing a great mix of older and newer material. You certainly get the feeling that he still loves performing. My only beef was not with Lightfoot, but with Massey Hall (my first visit there). I didn't get tickets until late, and was seated in the Gallery section. I have never been so crammed at a concert in my life-time to update this section!

    Lightfoot is a legend

    by LightfootLover69 on 2009-10-16Snoqualmie Casino-Ballroom - Snoqualmie

Lightfoot was magical, played all the crowd favorites. He is a Canadian legend, and won't be around forever, so I was happy to see him live. The venue: Snoqualmie Casino, small-ish, unfortunately no hotel anywhere near there, so somewhat inconvenient...however, a fantastic evening. I was not disappointed!
