GFR without Mark Farner... I don't think so. Nice try though. Sorry boys, love your music but without Mark on vocals and guitar it's not GFR. No slam to the current lineup they are great musicians and singers. It's like having a coffee with milk instead of cream. I'll drink it but I don't like it near as much. Awesome drum solo Don, you're still one of the best from the 70's. Saw the band back then on several occasions. Rock On.
It was really a good venue and especially liked your seating not being crammed. I give it 5 star
Grand Funk has not lost a beat in forty years. We feel we saw a show equal to the one they performed at Shea Stadium in the early 70's. We all know Don B. & Mel S. would never let their fans down but, with the addition of Bruce Kulick on lead and the others, they were outstanding. And they all do it so effortlessly, true musicians.
Hey Everyone Great Concert........loved the music and I have waited since the 70's to see these guys play in person. The music was fantastic.....a bit too bassi, it drowned out the vocals but all in all, good times. They even brought out the keyboard player from "Bob Segar's Band". I have two problems with this concert: 1- The band didn't play long enough (1hr and 1/2) 2- The band could have played more tunes from the "Red" or "Black" albums. Great time and great seats Good show Thanks Gman44
It was OK. Would have preferred they post the Canadian flag in the center of the stage and play the air guitar solo to the Canadian National Anthem instead of the US one. I'm sure it's part of their act, but they should have thought that through before they made us stand and salute the US flag. They should have played a well-known song instead. Had less of a problem with "We're an American Band" because it was a big hit for them, but would not have broken my heart if they chose something else there too, especially to finish off the night.
Had a blast! Grand Funk rocks! The concert brought back great memories from the 70's!! Rock on!
This was a great show! The drum solo was spectacular!
I was wondering how well Grand Funk would perform without former lead singer Mark Farner but the rest of the cast was up to the task. A good, solid performance from a refined band that included an ex-guitarist of Kiss and a former lead singer of 38 Special. My only complaint was that they didn't play (unless my memory doesn't serve me right) some of their better tunes (ie. Feelin' Alright, Footstompin' Music, Heartbreaker, Time Machine, Mean Mistreater, Are You Ready, & Mr. Limousine Driver). Of course, their most popular tunes were played (ie. Some Kind of Wonderful, The Loco-Motion, I'm Your Captain/Closer To Home, Walk Like A Man, Bad Time, Rock'n'Roll Soul, We're An American Band). Overall, a solid 90-minute performance.
After driving for 3 hours, getting lost in Windsor, then driving back, I am glad to say the the hardrocking was well worth it and would gladly have turned around to go back for another show.
It was unbelievable and awesome. It brought back memories from the past.
All and all it was a pretty good concert but is was probably a little louder then it needed to be.
Glad I went to see them, they brought back many good memories. Awesome show, they certainly haven't lost their touch. Keep it up guy's love love love you's!
GFR without Mark Farner is NOT GFR. The sound was cluttered and many of the hits were buried in an overpowering and seemingly out of tune bass. An extended drum solo did nothing for the show. if you want to here GFR done right , check out Mark Farner's band. Even on u tube the sound is better than the GFR show. Fire the soundman!!!
What an intense 1.5 hours. Grand Funk still can kick out music like they did in the 60s. The person on the mixing board took 2 songs to get it right, but after that the sound in the Colosseum was great. When will they be back?
Mel Schacher,Don Brewer & Craig Frost put on an amazing show in Windsor!! Played all the songs I listened to in the 70's! They seemed like they were back in the 70's so full of energy, especially the way Don Brewer did his drum solo last night!!
