The costumes were incredible and well thought out. The use of a piece of black silk very imaginative and magical. So much fun to see the different fairy tale characters. And the dancing. Oh my! No words to describe how good it was. We were mesmerized the whole time. Well worth the cost.
So good to be back to in person events and this one was perfect as my first event back to the glorious NAC.
Des danseurs et danseuses, athlètes de haut calibre alliant force, grâce et élégance ! Une performance éblouissante. J'ai adoré les clins d'œil à d'autres contes de fées, le chat botté, chaperon rouge, fée Carabosse. Un pur moment de ravissement !🙏💝
Excellent spectacle à grand déploiement. Les performances des danseurs étaient extraordinaire, les costumes étaient tellement beaux et la mise en scène parfaite. Nous avons passé un bel après-midi.
From the dance point of view, it was pretty good performance. I especially enjoyed the performance of the dancer portraying the evil fairy! An excellent dancer with amazing and entertaining face expressions. The Sleeping Beauty was also pretty good. From the story line point of view I loved three quarters of the performance. I was complety lost with the fill in solos from other characters that did not belong to the story (like Puss in boots, Snow White etc). Although the dancers did a good job, the story line turned into a Nutcracker like performance where characters from all around came to perform their solos. It had nothing to do with the story of sleeping beauty story and it was a let down for me and my companion (who was a person who has autism and was expecting a classic story).
Absolutely gorgeous. From historically accurate costume designs, to the stunning use of the curtains to tell a story, the detailed props, and of course the marvellous dancers. All of it was a breathtaking experience which I won’t soon forget!
The dancing was perfection. The transition from baby to toddler to little girl to teenager flowed smoothly and the story easy to follow. The "black fairy" (male dancer) had to be, (in my opinion) was just absolutely amazing! His speed, height of leaps and his depiction of "evil being" was nothng short of brilliant. My favourite part was the very ending, when ALL the fairy tale characters came to life under the ability of the dancers. Of these characters, I just loved Puss in Boots and his Miss Kitty. Not only did she dance the part wonderfully well, she made it fun to watch. I give Les Grand Ballets de Quebec a 10 ++++ and would certainly go and see them dance again. Cudos to ALL the dancers. They were great.
My husband and I attended the Friday evening performance of Sleeping Beauty. As expected, the performance was exceptional. I have always said that when you attend performances of a professional company , usually you get two performances in one - the dance and the orchestra. For us, both delivered! The dance, costumes, sets, lighting, and smooth transitions made for a beautiful vision....the music of the NAC Orchestra was a beautiful sound. I think I enjoyed the orchestra most....the ovation at the end of the performance was amazing and so richly deserved.
From the costuming to the set design to the exceptional skill of the principal dancers: Everything made for a wonderful experience.
It was my first time ever to see a ballet performance. I had such a good experience. The orchestra band played beautifully, and the choreography was stunning. I am thankful to get affordable tickets from the Under 30 program of the NAC. I recommended it to a lot of my friends.
Spectacle réussi. Les décors et les costumes étaient de toute beauté. Et les danseurs étaient extraordinaires . Belle mise en scène. La fin était un peu longue par contre.
It was a fantastic show, the costumes and decorations were beautiful. I loved the first act, but the second act was a little boring, but it is my personal opinion.
Awesome show! Loved every minute of it. Will definitely go back, especially with the Under30 program!
So, lots of changes at the NAC, not for the better. Ruddy Lounge closed. Plastic glasses and plastic straws (which I thought had been banned nationally) at the little bars in the foyer. No paper programs and my phone would not download the QR code program. Previously, you could buy a parking pass to get you out of the garage quickly. No more. Now you pay at the gate, plastic only. And big surprise: the machine was acting up so it was taking forever. We ended up getting out for free as did many others, as the machine was not taking the cards. Please bring back the advance tickets. Could not get a drink at 1 Elgin prior because they only had people seated outside. Indoor bar was EMPTY and closed as was the restaurant dining room. Keeping mask on for the whole performance was trying but we knew we had to. Overall, not a great experience but better than not going at all. The NAC is applying restrictions as if we are still last fall. Please update!!
