Green Day redefined punk rock in a post-grunge world. Rising from the Bay Area punk scene in 1987, the band released several EPs before coalescing into their long-standing lineup of vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool. The trio shared the independent album Kerplunk in 1991 before releasing their major label debut Dookie in 1994. Behind singles like “Longview,” “Basket Case” and “When I Come Around,” which each topped the Alternative Airplay chart, Dookie reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Dookie earned Green Day three Grammy nominations, including a win for Best Alternative Music Performance, and the album continues to stand as the band’s best-selling release with over 20 million copies sold worldwide. Green Day followed with 1995’s Insomniac and 1997’s Nimrod, with the latter boasting the band’s biggest creative shift with the rare acoustic single, “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” After 2000’s Warning, Green Day spent the next few years developing their first of several ambitious projects, the 2004 punk rock opera American Idiot. The album became Green Day’s first to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, and it logged two Top 10 singles with “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” and “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” American Idiot garnered seven Grammy nominations and won two, including Best Rock Album. The band won the Best Rock Album Grammy again with 2009’s concept album 21st Century Breakdown. A stage adaptation of American Idiot debuted on Broadway in 2010 and won two Tony Awards and a Grammy for the cast recording. Furthermore, Green Day were first-ballot inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015.

Green Day rocked the house! The show was so full of energy and they included the fans a lot. They played a lof of their new songs and of course all the old hits. Fantastic show!!
Super energy from Lead Singer. Great special effects. Would have liked to hear more older songs though and could have done without the audience participation on stage.
Great show - they were great about getting people out of the audience and working up the crowd
There are no signs of slowing down here. Green Day still rocks and brings it as hard as they ever did. The show had amazing sound and the pyrotechnics were second to none. They're shows keep getting better every time they come. The only difference is they bring more and more pyrotechnics and fireworks.
I was expecting a good concert, but definitely Green Day has exceeded all my expectations! It was a very entertaining show with lots of fun! Thank you Green Day and thank you MTS Centre!
It was a great concert, opening band wasn't very good, but then Greenday made up for that ! Took my teenage daughter with me and she loved it.
The opening bands had something to be desired as i can't even come to think of a single name of theirs. Green Day definitely knows how to rock a crowd. They kept everybody involved and blew their minds all at the same time. BUT i absoulutely hate paperless tickets. I can't sell them if i'm in a bind and can't go. I have to bring my credit card to the concert, i'm sorry but i don't want to risk losing it especially in the mosh pit! Not only that but they have to scan it to to verify. Just opens yourself up for another way to be scammed. Paperless tickets are a major deterent in my decision to attend a concert.
I have never been to a Green Day concert before and wasn't quite sure what to expect, although I am a HUGE fan of their music!! From the moment they came on stage it was entertaining and personable. I would have loved to have had a chance to be on stage with them, however still loved watching the other fans have that once in a lifetime opportunity. I left the concert pumped with energy and cannot wait till I see them again!! In the meantime I will continue to rock out to their music at home!!
The show was AWESOME...I don't think I have heard someone say F**K so many times...and yes...it was great lol. I really like the fact that Greenday appreciates their fans, and thanks them by inviting them on stage to experience what they do on a day to day basis. Overall, NO complaints AT ALL.
I have been to many concerts in my life and I have to say I was not expecting much from this concert as I bought the tickets so that my 12 year old son could see them(He thinks they are great!) What a great surprise!! There was 5 of us that went together. They were amazing!! They sound just as good live as they do on their CD and they put on a great show. I even enjoyed the opening band The Bravery!! It was especially nice that I could afford to take my whole family as the tickets were very reasonable and I had great seats. Bravo Green Day you have 4 new fans that will return to see another concert!!
Green Day were amazing. They're getting older but they're still rocking like they're 20 Years Old. Billie Joe is the ultimate performer. Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt were excellent at supporting the songs and energy level. Freaking awesome live show.
Best concert i have ever seen. They have great energy and played their best songs.
I have enjoyed Green day's music for many years, but had never attended a live performance. The show at the MTS Center blew me away. It was to be a gift to my daughters. My oldest girl, aged 15, is a huge fan. This was both of the girls first concert, and I must say ' The bar has been set mighty high for the next live perfomance the girls see' !. I am a classic rock guy, and have seen many concerts over the years and have many great memories. The showman ship that Billie Joe displayed, and his ability to charge up a room of 7,000 people into getting onto their feet with arms in the air, was a treat for the senses. The pyro, lights, and effects were simply the icing on the cake. Thank you Green day....... I now have 'best Dad in the world' status with my girls!!! And I personally have a whole new appreciation for the band! This concert is definately on my top 5 list.
green day is one of the best bands to see live. they get everyone involved in the show and most important they sound great
Ok, so in the beginning I was on the outside of the pit on the floor. I have a major issue with my sciatica right now and while standing there listening, I couldn't help myself. I got right in there, had a riot. The boys were awesome once again, lived up to everything I had hoped for!
I thought that the Green Day concert was great! Played some new and some old. The pyrotechniques were awesome. Most bands do not do this anymore or if they do, it wasn't to the extent that Green Day did. Though I did not expect so many youngsters there. Thank you Green Day for bringing your bunny! I felt that getting the crowd involved with singalongs was great and having fans come up on stage to sing or play along with their songs. That was a plus to see them interact so much with their fans and the crowd. Thank you for coming to Winnipeg.
green day was an overall amazing show. they intoracted with the croud and played there old hits as well with there new stuf. this show was one of the best that i have seen this year
I can honestly say this was one of the best concerts that I have attended, Green Day definitely does not need a recording studio to sound Great. The pyrotechnics and huge screen were awesome...and the audience interaction only added more fuel to the already firey atmosphere. I would go see Green Day again.....it made my summer : )
What a show! They sounded great, the pyro was fantastic and they really tried to please and entertain the crowd. Finally a band that understands that we paid good money to see them and they seemed sincerely appreciative of it. They really tried to put on the best performance they could. They were passionate about the show. It made it worth twice the amount of admission!
From the moment Green Day hit the stage, I was on my feet. For the next two hours, they kicked butt. I don't think there was a weak moment during the concert. Green Day is a band that doesn't need an elaborate light show or choreographed dancers to entertain a crowd. They just deliver in-your-face punk. Billie Joe Armstrong is a showman. The pyrotechnics were an added bonus. Great concert!
