Dorothy and Greta Van Fleet was Epic!

by Anonymous on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

Although we didn’t expect a wait line at the event, once inside the building and warmed up, the event was about to begin. Dorothy and the band appeared first and gave an amazing show followed by Greta Van Fleet who charged the stage with energy and kept the audience on a cloud as they progressed through their hits as well as recent songs. The venue cheered for more as they walked off stage and of course came back to give the audience another hit of GVF medicine.

Awesome band. Too bad the venue sucked.

    by RLW72 on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

Greta van fleet was amazing. The musicianship was great and of course the singers voice totally rocked. I still cant believe that they covered a Melanie song!! (Candles in the Rain). if it werent for my earplugs making it even remotely comprehensible and enjoyable I probably would have had to leave. Terrible venue at the bmo centre. Not suited to loud music at all.

The best new age 70s show since the darkness. See them before they come to the addiction

    Up 'n comers

    by JD2014 on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

They were OK. Rough around the edges, as any 20-st band would be. Wicked vocal sounds out of Josh, (and Dorothy for that matter)

    Average show

by tkitty on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

Really like Greta Van Fleet but this show was average at best for me. The band doesn't seem to have enough material for a headliner so instead stretched every song with extra guitar riffs and keyboards. This band is incredibly talented and will do great things. This time though I wasn't into the show as much as I would have hoped to be. Sound at the BMO Center wasn't good.

It was a standing only event. I prefer having a seat.

    Blew me away

by yates on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

This show was amazing! It was awesome to see these guys at this early stage in their careers before the BUSINESS ruins them. Hopefully they will continue to do their sound the way it is and not let some record company tell them what they need to play! They are great musicians and showed that off nicely. Lots of extended solos and that voice, so strong. They were very tight the whole show. Opening act Dorothy was amazing as well, I’d never heard of them until that night and I was so impressed I went and bought their CD. I also liked the mix in the crowd from little kids to people in their 60s and everything in between. Good job!!

    Very talented young band

by yankicanuk on 2018-09-15BMO Centre - Calgary

I’ve been a fan since the 1st time I heard GVF. Just straight out rock music. Tired of the criticism re: sounding like Zeppelin, everyone is influenced by someone! They’re talented & a breadth of fresh air in the rock music of the past 10+ years.

Amazing. Best concert I have ever seen and I have seen many. They give so much energy and just have a blast together on stage. This is what music should be there one of the only bands right now with true Talent.

    One for the ages!!!

Amazing show by Dorothy and Greta Van Fleet!!! This will be one that goes down in history as one of those shows you tell your friends and family that you were there like when Nirvana first played Edmonton! So much energy and great playing by these guys it makes me proud that this kind of music is still alive and breathing new life and making hard rock/blues more popular for the kids and giving them a fresh alternative than the pop out there flooding the markets. Long live Rock & Roll baby!! \m/

    That Guy

by ElTaco on 2018-09-14Shaw Conference Centre - Edmonton

I said if they ever did a local stop on their first tour I would go see them, Because the next time will probably be in a stadium. These guys are on fire. The sound quality was perfect. Koodoos to the engineer. They played all the songs off the EP, a Howlin Wolf cover, and a couple drops off the new album, along with the 2 they have already released. The stage show was them, with some lights and the music. Very bare bones, and very good. No need for the antics when you go to hear the music, and can they play the music. Each member had a chance to show their chops, but I thank Jake stole the show with his behind the back guitar solo, but I may be biased because I play myself. Danny's drumming was tight, and I get the feeling he goofed during the opening number as it seemed Josh took a dig at him. I hope there is no infighting behind the stage. Altogether an event that was not to be missed.

    Fantastic!!!!

    by Gretafan1 on 2018-07-21STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

This young band is extremely talented!!! We looked forward to seeing them in person and hoped that we would not be disappointed as some bands do not sound as good live. We were definitely not disappointed! Greta sounds just as awesome live as they do recorded! Greta is most definitely a young band that will continue to grow and mature in years to come. A must experience for any music lover!!
