Half Moon Run on Tour
Since the release of their 2012 debut album, Dark Eyes, Montreal indie-rock quartet Half Moon Run have developed a reputation as one of Canada's most mesmerizing live bands. Not only does the group feature four equally versatile multi-instrumentalists — resulting in copious onstage role-swapping — each member is blessed with an angelic voice that contributes to their spine-tingling, church-worthy harmonies. Half Moon Run are the sort of singular band that possess the wiry intensity to rock a small club, the anthemic grandeur to captivate festival crowds and the sophisticated arrangements to enhance the soft-seater theater experience. And to properly recreate their signature songs in a live setting, the band employ two drum sets, ensuring that each show builds into a heart-racing, percussion-pounding spectacle.
Half Moon Run in Concert
Formed in Montreal in 2010, Half Moon Run quickly sprinted to the frontlines of that city's fabled indie-rock scene. On their arresting debut single, "Full Circle," the group effortlessly forged a sound that was both rustic and grandiose, incorporating the forest-squatting harmonies of Fleet Foxes, the emotional intensity of Bon Iver and the disquieting atmospherics of Radiohead into its widescreen expanse. That song would help propel their first record, 2012's Dark Days, to platinum status in Canada, and into the charts in several European countries. After touring with indie heavyweights like Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, and City and Colour, the group returned with 2015's Sun Leads Me On, which entered the Top 5 on the Canadian Billboard albums chart, earning them a Juno nomination for Breakthrough Group of the Year. (And thanks to anthemic singles like "Turn Your Love," the band also made significant inroads into the U.S., with the album cracking the Top 10 on Billboard Heatseekers chart.) But with their third album, A Blemish in the Great Light, Half Moon Run pivot away from their roots-rock foundation to bring their artier instincts to the fore.

Half Moon Run delivered a live performance that was jaw dropping, incredible, grandiose, better music live.
I've seen Half Moon Run before and will see them every chance I get as their live shows are incredible. This show however was quite odd in that the opener went on at 6:30pm on a Thursday night. Half Moon Run, the headliner, went on at 7:30pm and finished by 8:45pm. This is not how you schedule a concert. The whole thing felt rushed and for reasons beyond me. Definitely changes my views on the Mod Club. They do have great sound but whoever decided the set times for this show needs to learn that nobody wants to rush to get to a concert for 6:30pm on a weeknight.
Great small gig for a solid band. Oddly they went on at 730p but they did not disappoint.
This was a great show, boring crowd but that is Vancouver, the band still gave their best performance, they are amazing musicians
The guys were awesome! High energy and awesome music made a great night!
I've been to hundreds of concerts and this was pretty much the best one. They sound amazing live and I had goosebumps during several incredible moments during their show.
What a beautiful, intimate venue to witness an epic show such as was seen last Saturday night at the Métropolis with Half Moon Run. All the stars aligned for a perfect concert experience...a fantastic opening act, Folly and the Hunter, a joyous, adoring, "hometown" audience, and four of the most charming, talented young men on Earth making the most wonderful music. Catch them while you can at a small venue...they won't be this accessible for much longer!
I knew I was going to enjoy the music, but I didn't realize how rocking this band actually was. They put on a kick ass rock and roll show.
This band is going places fast! I love the cross with grunge and alternative styles. Lyrics are deep and the music is quite provocative. I want more!!!
I'm pretty sure I witness the next big thing that has hit the Canadian music scene since Arcade Fire.
Great show! The energy from the crowd and the band was palpable. It just makes a show that much better when the band are actually enjoying themselves. Already have my fix for the next show in March. Super talented bunch of guys! Their success is well deserved!
Half moon run show was soo good ! Great stage presence !
Loved it :) they gave it all, great petformance :)
Best show ever they were sososo good, great energy and concert vibe I WANT TO GO TO THE NEXT CONCERT
The show was great but I would have preferred to have seats and not standing room only. (obviously an older fan!)
so glad i caught this show. love them. great venue, great sound!
This was one of, if not THE best concert I've ever been to. Everyone in the band is incredibly talented, and it shows at their concerts. They sounded even better live than on record. I was blown away. Plus, not only was the music out of this world, but every member of the band was enthusiastic, charming and had great energy on stage. Don't even question it - go see Half Moon Run in concert! Mark my words, they're going to be huge and one day you'll regret not having gone to see them when they were at the smaller venues.
One of the best concerts I've seen yet. Incredibly talented band with amazing presence and energy in live show. They're gonna be huge!!!
Excellent sound, 4-part harmonies were great, good to have a percussionist as well as a drummer. New songs bode well for the follow-up.
