Really a great show. The singing was exceptional. Add some great dance numbers and you got a great time. Beautiful story. Thank you to whole cast. Give yourself a gift and see this performance.

  • Tova Was Wonderful

by Beccasplace on 2016-06-22Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I have been wanting to see both Tova and this play for a very long time. I thought she was great. What I also enjoyed was the 10 minute conversation with her and Rabbi Elyse Goldstein I wish it was a bit longer. All in all a wonderful afternoon. The only thing that I can say that I didn't enjoy was the smoking :) Otherwise what a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Thank you.

  • Tova was just so Good!!!!!!

by TovaFan on 2016-06-22Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent play. Tova did a fantastic job with the voices. After a while it didn't feel like a one person show.

  • a play spoiled by insufficient director control

by Anonymous on 2016-05-27Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 1 out of 5

This play -- requiring subtle interpretation -- was ruined by excessive yelling and screaming on the part of the actors. Surely the director should have realized that the emotional level was far too overdone -- to the point of being unbelievable and ludicrous -- and intervened to reduce the level of histrionic absurdity.

by Bubster14 on 2016-05-16Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The play was very dark, very heavy, but NOT to be missed. Lots of twists and turns, lots of discussion afterwards. The actors were awesome.

  • All my Favourites!

by horsey1 on 2016-04-14George Weston Recital Hall at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

I really enjoyed this concert! Before I went, I had a mental "Wish List" of songs I hoped would be played. More than that list was performed. I also enjoyed the interjections of history and behind-the-scenes stories about this incredible composing team.

  • The Immigrant did not have to be a musical

by Polish on 2015-11-21Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 2 out of 5

The music was too sombre and very monotone. We would have preferred this drama without music.

  • The Immigrant was a wonderful evening of theatre.

by Caligula on 2015-11-03Greenwin Theatre at the Toronto Centre for the Arts - TorontoRating: 5 out of 5

The story, the acting, the music, and the overall presentation was outstanding. The music was very original - not in the usual "Broadway" style, but effective and memorable in its subtlety and nuance of both lyrics and score. The musicians were excellent. All the actors delivered spoken lines and songs with sensitivity, grace, and just the right touch of humour. I loved this show and was only disappointed with the luke - warm reception of the audience. Maybe it was too sophisticated for the group in attendance. Applause was restrained and feeble. I felt that this production deserved a standing ovation and at least, a couple of curtain calls. Don't miss it!
